Why are we all argueing?! We are all fans of a championship contending team... err. Carry on. Schaub sucks. Kubiak sucks. Rick Smith sucks. Joe sucks.
Reliant was a 20-30 year investment. I'm glad they built it with a retractable roof. They haven't opened it much. It looks like that's changing.. Roof open on prime-time. Can't wait.
It is pretty ridiculous that people can't handle the sun at a football game. A vast majority of the country deals with the sun. I understand if it was sun+heat, but we're only talking about the winter months.
It isn't grown in the stadium... its grown outside on trays, and they bring them all in individually and put it together like a puzzle.
Well, after all that it looks like they're playing today's game on the GRASS field. Really don't understand why they didn't put the field turf in... unless they felt they couldn't install the field turf, then switch out to the grass field in 24 hours. Which at that point, why even have the field turf??? Either way, the field is going to be ripped to shreds before tomorrow's night game... two games in 48 hours... and by the end of tomorrow's game, 3 in 72. On a tray system nonetheless. (at least the roof is opened for the college game).
So why didn't they use the field turf for the Saturday game? Ripped up field for the pro team... good management, Reliant
Because football is an outdoor sport and it's stupid? "We don't open it because it's louder closed" is the dumbest, aggie-est reason I've ever heard. They didn't know it would be louder with a roof on than without one before they built it?
I think it's silly and wasteful to spend tens of millions of dollars for something you're not using. As I recall, the retractable roof cost $50 million above and beyond what it would have cost for a fixed roof.
I'm going to be shocked if the Texans set foot on that same grass on Sunday. 2 games in 72 hours and they're gonna run pro teams out on it on national tv? I can't see it happening. They have to have some kind of plan in place. Otherwise, this is insanely stupid.
Yeah... on second thought, watching today's game... that grass looks virtually dead. It was so brown, the entire screen took on that darkened hue, and made the game look like it was being played at night (even with an open roof and the lights on). I guess they may have a full replacement plan in effect... similar to what they did before each of the last two year's playoff games (where the grass looked as green as it ever has). And, I guess they decided to get one last use out of it by allowing the college teams to play on it (even though they have a brand new field turf bought solely for the use of college games). If they do decide to play on the brown ripped-up grass, it will be pretty embarrassing.
even more ridiculous when you consider that 99% of the fans in the stadium probably lives in texas year round.
Kind of a sad reality about the state of the team that at this point arguing about the roof actually trumps any actual relevant conversation about the team or the game on Sunday, even if just for one page on one thread. GO TEXANS!!!
Well, with the Texans playing in prime time, the turnaround is probably a little longer than it would be for a normal Saturday - Sunday schedule. But if they're going to completely replace the field, I wonder why they didn't paint the old grass for either college game.
