Linsanity was Lin driving to the paint, occasionally making nice passes to the roller, and sometimes making bad passes for TO's. The ball was in Lin's hands 90% of the time and he was creating every single play.

Contrast that to PG's like Deron Williams or Tony Parker. The ball is in their hands a lot too but they aren't creating every single play. They are also great off the ball players.

Well there was a big difference between Melo's stickiness and Lin's stickiness.

How we went from winning this game to talking about "sticky"?

You. All. Know. Nothing. About Linsanity, it was all about MDA

That's a lot of words for a reply to a comment you didn't even read.

    This is what I said.

Maybe you should brush up your comprehension and/or brush through that strawman.

I agree with you, sticky means ball is not moving around, meaning not a lot of players are involve in the play.

I think there are two schools of thought on ball stickiness:

Group A is arguing that a PG who runs the show, creates plays for others, can't mean the ball is "sticky".

Group B is arguing that ball stickiness is when one player dominates the ball, regardless if he is creating for others or not. The Spurs spread the ball pretty equally and always make the extra pass. Even though Parker is their PG I wouldn't say he dominates the ball.

Kind of comes down to its okay to have a sticky offense as long as Lin is the sticky point because the offense is facilitated through the point guard even though teams with great, scoring two guards don't facilitate the offense through the point guard.

True, no need to complicate, sticky ball means the ball is not moving well on the floor. Let's think why McHale said that last season and hope the ball will less sticky this season regardless whoever play 'the point guard' role.

This is patently false. Lin dominated the ball immensely during Linsanity and isolation plays occurred frequently during that 7 game stretch. Except Lin was dominating the ball exclusively so you were o.k. with it.

So basically what I'm gathering is people don't like Harden isolating and going twinkle toes mode. Because Linsanity was basically Jeremy Lin running a billion PnRs. He's an effective PnR player, and MDA basically gave his free reign to do everything he wanted as long as it meant toney douglas didnt see the floor.

the distinction is perhaps that while Lin's usage was high, he was creating for others. James does that too just by his mere presence, just cause he has the ability to isolate and carry a team doesnt make him selfish. See todays game.

I'm not complaining about it. There was no way that team was winning games if Lin didn't have the ball in his hands on every possession.

All I'm pointing out is that LOF's were ecstatic to see Lin take his man on 1 on 1 and were O.K. with the occasional missed shot/turnover, but they complain endlessly when Harden does the same damned thing.

Taking their man one on one led Kobe, Jordan, Dirk, Bird. to title after title after title. Melo is significantly worse than any of those guys (and he's not going far this year either) but if we're going to play this silly game, Melo's "isos" helped the Knicks to the 2nd seed and a 50+ win season.

It wasnt just LOFers (god hate writing that) that were pleased, because at least it was a sign that Lin was confident and decisive in his play today. You can't always say that about Lin, which is a shame, because when he is aggressive in attacking the basket it completely transforms him as a player.

Frankly I don't care if Harden wants to dominate the ball. Hes the best SG in the league, still extremely young, it isnt going to happen overnight, there willofcourse be growing pains. and yes, its not a good double standard. Didn't really have an issue with those turnovers, it was mainly Parsons freaking fake/jab travels that drove me insane..

Chandler is really worrying me, he didn't play well in preseason besides one game and now in regular season is missing shots that he usually makes. Could it be that with opposing teams scouting him, his effectiveness on offense is dropping? This is all hypothetical, but Parsons shouldn't be missing wide open corner 3's when they were his bread and butter last year.
