They are ignorant. They are easily mislead. They are foolish. They are mentally weak and cannot discern fact from their own stupid emotional response.

FT is about mental toughness. Dwight doesn't have a lot of that. He needs to understand that he has the best SG in the league to cover his back and he just needs to relax.

Lovely. And you base that response on what? Your experience as an Olympic athlete? I think not. Dwight can go up and get 26 rebounds in a single game. You cannot describe such a player as lacking mental toughness. Perspective please.

if there's a problem with the thread, the mods will lock it up. if you don't like the content, gtfo.

I wonder if there would be any merit to missing on purpose as someone posted earlier. seems like there'd be a decent chance to get a rebound but I also can see the risk of a fastbreak down at the other end. wish he'd get with rick barry, get over his ego, and try the underhand shot. will never happen though.

Maybe we should hold a big crowd in Toyota Center to simulate in game action. Have Dwight run wind-sprints until he feels like he is tired in a game and then make him shoot free-throws while everyone is screaming at him. Rinse and repeat. He shoots 80%+, he gets buckets and my girl.

Dwight is a monster rebounder and a huge defensive anchor for the team.
That being said, imho if he shows good form and focused concentration before each FT attempt, that might make opposing coaches think twice before starting Hack a Howard.

LOL the mods here do not lock up stupid threads.

Well your post history holds no a candle to mine. So no, I will not gtfo.
IMHO I killed an ill conceived thread garnering knee jerk reactions from uninformed CF posters. I truly despise crap posts and threads mascarading as logical fact based posts. So sorry, your response is meaningless to me.

as a true rockets fan, my nba interest drops once we're no longer making that playoff push. So I never really followed Dwight. How the hell did he average 22+points without a post move and being able to shoot freebies? We need to set him up with more plays because I doubt he will be content with just being Ben Wallace on steroids with a nicer smile. I want 20 a night from him. not really, what he does on defense is immense, can't be measured. =)

post history ? wtf are you talking about ? this is an internet forum where people talk about the rockets. the people in here want to talk about a player on the rockets who struggles at free throw shooting. so why don't you go add to your awesome "post history" in another thread instead of trying to derail this one ?

Saw the highlights, (or lowlights) wasn't pretty but if he can hit 55% we better take it.

55% yields 1.10 PPP. Well above the NBA average.

Howard has way too much touch to be shooting FT so poorly -- he needs to get with Calvin for some knowledge and start using his legs.

Truly stupid threads need to be shutdown ASAP.

Characterizing a 3 time DPOY and someone who 2 years ago was sandwiched in between LBG and Durrant in RAPM is ignorant. I rest my case. And Howard typically hits well above 70% of his free trows in practice. Is something not quite right? Sure. But Howard is anything but weak.

Some people dont really get it, and some people have only been following basketball for a short time. In that short time they have been watching they think they have learned more about the game than they really have.

case in point the statements about making FT's is all about mental toughness,
when in fact people who have grown up watching and playing this game for an entire life time know that FT's are about routine and mechanics.

I do think too many people have been tinkering with Dwight's mechanics the past several years, but I would still pay anything to lock D12 up with Calvin Murphy and Rick Berry in a gym for a week and teach him that its all in the knees. :D

If Chuck Hayes can do it (career average just above 55%)...there's still great hope for Howard.
