For team defense to work they must first stop dribble penetration.

Great points. At the end of the day, you try to play your best 5 together. We're lucky to have two guys that are dependable and as a Rocket's fan I am happy to have both.

Core injuries are always the worst, because they seem so insignificant and yet affect pretty much any movement you attempt to make. What's more annoying is that you really can't do much to make them heal faster, like use a brace or an arm rest. Even with something as serious as broken ribs you're basically left to just lie as still as possible and wait for your body to mend - there's no way to put a cast around the ribs to help realign the bone fragments, protect them, and move along the healing process.

Bev will probably work to get back as soon as possible, but the reality is that there's not all that much for him to do beyond rest and wait. And the problem is that if he comes back too early, there's a pretty strong risk for re-aggravating the injury and resetting the healing clock or making things even worse.

It's a long season, and if I were him I'd take things slow and make sure I'm 100% before coming back, especially given his playing style. 14 days is nothing if you consider the alternative of leaving your team with Aaron Brooks as the primary guard backup for 2+ months out of the season.

There's almost no risk that he's going to suddenly lose his starting job/minutes, because the coaching staff wants to maximize his minutes with Harden, and the best way to do that is by having him start while using Lin as the primary backup for both positions.

I dont think this is a Dragic/Lowry situation.

The difference is they have such unique skillsets, I'm 90% sure Bev will get his spot back.

I knew he wasn't gonna play. Rockets are always trying to sugarcoat things. Just tell the truth from the get.

Yes and when he inevitably gets by Bev as he will because he is CP3 the guys down low are going to be there. Technically defense starts down low. Having a shot blocking/ paint guarding presence, bigs calling out picks/screens, help defense, rotating etc.

This is CP3 we are talking about there was always going to be an impact with or without Bev.

Damn, always hurts to lose your starting point guard. Get better soon, Bev! We need you!

Guess Lin drastically stepped up his ability to fight through screens tonight cuz Calderon shot a goose egg.

Lin's benching, Asik's benching, and now Bev's injury...
The writings are on the wall.
But the Rockets never say things the way they are which is kind of annoying.
Let's see what they are going to say about Casspi's injury.

Fanastic? He was ok. He had two or three silly turnovers at the start of the third when the Mavs were eroding into our lead. It was Harden and Casspi who saved our bacon. Lin was not FANTASTIC. he was ok at best. You have aggressive turnovers like trying to create and you have silly turnovers like the ones Lin had.

Commentators were worried about Bev cheering too much from the bench ...they said he needed to take it easy lol
