About what I expected from the trailers. I'll still go see it because I got my son to read through all three books. This will be something we can enjoy together.
For sure: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/...lm-be-derailed-by-the-authors-homophobia.html That said, I love the book, even though I strongly oppose Card's position on this issue. You don't have to like artists as people to admire their art.
Orson Scott Card actually said in an interview he had turned down numerous adaptation offers because they insisted on using older (16+ years) actors and adding a romantic element to Ender's game. It's sad to see that he may have capitulated This movie could have been a grand opportunity to launch a child actors career. The main characters (Ender, Valentine and Peter) are such deep characters
Understatement. I can dissociate art from the artist. But I don't need to give him my money either. Will not watch.
OSC has said a lot of derogatory things toward a lot of people - not just gays. He's not getting my money.
What's even more pathetic is that once he realized it might impact his bottom line, he made a very lame plea for "tolerance" of his bigotry. OSC can go **** himself.
You guys are literally destroying my respect for this brilliant author with every post. I had no idea he was so closed-minded That is the number 1 problem with society today; bigotry. What a clown
Also, the fact that he preaches about Ender's treatment as an outcasted "third" sibling would surely lend some insight to how marginalised groups like the gay community feel.. and then feeling alone through battleschool. Come on Orson
My coworker really wants to see it but wont on principle cause of the gay comments. I told her stick it to him more and buy another ticket and go watch that movie
Just go out and buy a used copy of the book. Authors obviously don't get any cut from a used copy, and the book is one of the best sci-fi novels ever, guaranteed to be much better than this film, which I expect to be a perfectly average sci-fi action flick. But quite aside from all that, I ain't seeing the movie simply because I love the book too much to sully myself with a ho-hum movie adaptation.
this wasnt gonna watch the movie cause it honestly doesnt look that good, but after reading his comment against the homo's im watching it for sure. the rest of you butthurt women can stay home and watch the kardashians.
Yeah, and as for the movie, I don't buy in something with a bunch of kids controlling space. I just don't and it doesn't look that interesting. If I want to watch a kid's movie, I'd watch, "The Goonies."
