Except that China, while our largest individual foreign creditor; doesn't hold anywhere near a majority, half, quarter or even a tenth of our actual debt. Their role is exaggerated because of lingering, dated anti-communist and fairly obvious Eurocentric paranoia, the latter of which prompted our first immigration laws literally out of thin air in the late 1800s.
It's pretty funny that America's debt to China is a small fraction of it's total. America also owes Japan, the Great Britain, Germany, France, etc large sum of debts. Why would the media always scapegoat China is a mystery.

When I was in the computer business in Houston, working and selling DTK computers years ago, it was a Chinese company, I personally found working with them interesting, because while they would sell to anyone, they would only buy from other Chinese companies. I am not sure if that is the way it still is, but it was always odd to me, and it felt very Chinese centric - almost to the point of protectionism or racism. Not sure what it has to do with this thread, but it just seemed strange....and no, he should not be fired. DD

It's not arbitrary in the least, it's stipulating that racism that prevents achievement or opportunity is more significant to me than name calling or jokes. It's accepting that government policy can only affect racism as it pertains to its material effects. This country values freedom of speech which includes racism. I've been called names, been made fun of, and been attacked for who I am my whole life. I don't ****ing whine about it like a little b****. I realize that what really matters are the opportunities and equality that I should be afforded as an American. If you want to act like a belligerent netizen because someone did a skit, knock yourself out.
I don't know which part of this story is most perturbing: 1) A kid suggesting that the way out of paying someone back is to kill them. 2) Jimmy Kimmel then exploring that option further with the kids. 3) Kimmel then deciding to air it. 4) The network, presumably, letting him. I'm going to go with 1 and 2.
It's funny that the Chinese community tends to be one of the most easily offended out there. I think it's the whole peni5 size issue, but I could be wrong.
