Honestly I can't say for certain either way.

It would've made it harder to pass but I don't think passage hinged on that. Anyway the Admin. struggled and continues to struggle with both explaining and selling this program yet it still passed. Possibly making the argument that things would change under the ACA which might mean that some would lose their current plans but there will be other plans that provide more benefits might've helped.

As far as increase in premiums it isn't clear that most will see an increase. My premium is increasing but not by much and I haven't checked the exchange, the MN one is running relatively smoothly, to see if I can find a cheaper one.

All of us have seen increases in our premiums every year for a long time, way before the ACA. Many years it's been over 10%.

The exchange plans are the same as the non-exchange plans. The only difference is the availability of the subsidy.

What's disgusting are the lies of the last five years your joke of a party has been spewing. I am no more a believer in lying than you, doctor.

    As I said,

Your party lies people into war, my party lies people into healthcare. My conscious is clear and I sleep fine.

I must Obama was a bit optimistic on the ACA's ability to keep insurance companies from dropping folks from their insurance policies and using the drop letters to deceive them by trying to upsell them to new more expensive policies. Not enough profits in directing them to plans on the ACA website that would be more in their price range.

The majority of the folks being dropped from their no-use minimal policies will either be able with some shopping on the website to get subsidies or be able to buy actual effective policies on the exchanges. .

So sorry those who want to shut down health care for millions for perceived partisan advantage.

So it's clear that Barack did in fact willfully lie to the American people -- he knew that millions would lose their healthcare plans. Now a democratic senator is having to offer up a bill to do just that...

Democrat Mary Landrieu says she'll offer a bill to allow Americans to keep existing health insurance

    http://www.nola.com/politics/index.ssf/2013/10/sen_landrieu_says_shell_suppor.html

Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-La., said she will propose legislation to ensure Americans can keep their current insurance even if it may not comply with minimum standards under the Affordable Care Act.

Landrieu's comments Wednesday came after reports that insurance companies have sent out hundreds of thousands of letters telling people with individual policies -- not obtained under a group, or through employers -- that they must seek other insurance because theirs doesn't comply with the health law's mandated coverage.

Republicans said those actions contradict numerous statements by President Barack Obama and congressional Democrats, including Landrieu, that people could keep their policies if they were satisfied with them, even after the Affordable Care Act was implemented.

"The promise was made and it should be kept," Landrieu said Wednesday. "And it was our understanding when we voted for that, that people when they have insurance, could keep what they had. So, I'm going to be working on that fix."

Great, first the people got dropped and then forced to buy something more expensive from a website called Obamacrash.gov.

I know there's punch line somewhere......

I'm saying that as far as "lies" go, claiming that 50-80% of Americans won't be able to keep their plans is a FAR bigger lie than what Obama said.

Actually, I didn't, but believe whatever you like, you're going to do so anyway.

You are really dumb when it comes to the ACA.

There's no benefit to the insurance companies for everyone to buy more expensive plans unless they use them. Recall that their profit margins are fixed by law.

The only thing Obama didn't anticipate is how many people actually like their high deductible plans that they pay very little for.

Do me a favor and look up the statistics on how many people actually reach their deductible in a calendar year? It's abysmally low. Most people want the copays for a doctor and for their drugs. They don't mind the $5000 deductible because they are unlikely to need it in a given year.

This lie is as clear as it gets. There is simply no doubt.

There was plenty of doubt in that particular speech. The fact that you can't understand that simple fact says all anyone needs to know about you: you are a mindless partisan interested only in trying to make the Democrats, and Obama in particular, look bad.

You're the one exhibiting the bias.

Even the democrats are breaking ranks on this lie. Mary Landrieu of Louisiana is even offering up a bill that will allow people to keep their existing plans if they like them. She would never have to do that had Barack kept his promise, which was clear as day to anybody who watched the video.

Andy, you've simply GOT to take the blinders off. You're embarrassing yourself at this point. I'm just trying to help you.
