Fact: All nations that were once British colonies have prospered MORE, and are more advanced, than their neighbors. Fact: Slavery existed in the USA from 1787 until 1865, a total of 78 years; shorter than any other modern nation. The importation of slaves lasted from 1787 until 1820 a total of 33 years. Fact: Approximately 95% of all slaves who left Africa went to Brazil, NOT the USA. (During the Revolutionary War, and the War between the States, approximately 15% of that 5% moved to the Bahamas, Central America, or other Caribbean Islands. Fact: The KKK was formed by Democrats to fight Republican expansion in the South. The KKK promoted Jim Crow laws to continue segregation in the South and to ensure that Democrats kept control of the South, by holding onto their elective offices. Fact: Republicans ended slavery, kept the nation together, and, after 100 years of Democrat leadership in the South, they passed the Civil Rights Acts of the 1960s, to ensure the vote for blacks. Democrats Al Gore Sr., D-TN, and KKK Senator Robert Byrd, D-WVa, voted AGAINST the Civil Rights Acts. Fact: Republican President Dwight D. Eisenhower used Federal Troops to integrate the schools (and fought the Democrat governors). Fact: Martin Luther King, Jr. was a Republican (he understood that Democrats were the only ones who had the power to stop blacks from voting, with applied literacy tests and poll taxes, since the election officials were all Democrats). Fact: All those small town sheriffs who used dogs, water hoses, and baseball bats to "control people" (and look the other way when hangings occurred) were ALL Democrats. So, were the mayors! So were the State Representatives and the State Senators, and the Congressmen, and the Governors. The Republicans had NO POWER in the South (even after winning the Civil War) until the Civil Rights Acts of the 1960s guaranteed blacks the vote. Fact: The "big lie" (that Republicans are racists and hate blacks and want to "hold them back" began AFTER Republicans forced the new Civil Rights Acts in the 1960s, and blacks (both men and women) were ensured the vote. Fact: Republicans BEG black women to have their babies, while Democrats advise them to have ABORTIONS. (Incidentally, the Democrats are winning, the black population is the ONLY population that is decreasing in the USA; thank a Democrat for that decrease; blacks do what the Democrats tell them to do.) Which Party is REALLY made up of racists? Fact: Democrats invented "affirmative action" as a way of "pretending" that they are in favor of blacks having higher education, but the DIRTY SECRET is that while blacks do get the "degree" (the piece of paper); they do not get the education. That ensures that while blacks are hired, they are also the first fired, because they do not have the knowledge to do the job they are hired to do. Republicans want to END "affirmative action" because they want blacks to do the work, and compete with everyone else, so they get the actual education; not just a piece of paper. Which Party is REALLY made up of racists? Conclusion: "African Americans" (aka blacks in America) should be on their knees, giving thanks that their ancestors were brought to the USA. Do you need help understanding what a fact actually is? Do you really think people should be grateful their ancestors were enslaved? Do you really believe nobody returned to Africa? What is apparent is that you don't understand affirmative action, how it works, when it's required and when it's voluntary. The dates you posted are only technically accurate because the colonies weren't independent until then. Slavery in the land that became the United States went on much longer than your posted "fact" dates. I hope you get the education that you deserve.

It's ironic that people who take so much pride in being American, to the point where they think slavery was a positive thing, has such a poor grasp on US history. The Republican and Democratic parties essentially switched titles (or platforms depending on how you look at it) post-WWII. The "solid south" voting bloc came to be known as such because of their extensive history and solidarity in voting for the Democratic party for much of US history.

Why don't you compare the average African immigrant to the average African American, and compare there income, education, crime rates etc.

Heck the Republican party is different from the one 20 years ago, much less the one 50+ years ago. You forgot one very important factual information on your statements. Those Republicans were actually considered liberals while the Democrats at the time were the conservative ones. The whole thing got flipped once Kennedy went Democrat and fought for equal rights.
