Flying into Zurich. Can y'all please provide suggestions on popular go-to ski resort areas close to Zurich? Thinking something along the lines of Breckenridge/Vail in relation to Denver.

    Thanks!!

Close to Zurich? I'll have to check for you.

I used to live in Leysin which was great. But that is back along the edge of Lake Geneva. A decent train ride away.

Zurich is in the flatter area of Switzerland, away from the Alps.

Might be the closest thing to you.

Although, if you have time I'd recommend heading South. Interlaken is great. And I'm sure there'll be some other great places along the Alps.

^^^^ one of the more famous areas of Switzerland.

For a place like no other, Zarmatt. Place I happened to receive my first whoopie.

Awesome, thanks! This is very helpful. We are open to travelling 3-4 hours to get to a resort destination - I have also heard Verbier and Chamonix are good options. Thoughts on those?

Chamonix is really good if you're looking for a farther trip across the border. I don't have any experience with Verbier, but I've heard the same.

Interlaken should be less than 4hr round trip. I think it's around 1 1/2 hours from Zurich by car.

This is actually on my bucket list, so I guess I'll start focusing on my future trip! Thanks Uprising! Interlaken sounds like a plan to me!

Just google mapped it, Interlaken is 1.5 hours and Verbier/Chamonix are ~3.5hrs. Interlaken might be the winner. Thanks again Uprising!

p.s. still considering Zarmatt in honor of your first whoopie

LOL! Zarmatt is amazing because it's completely surrounded by Peaks, and just a surreal experience.

Interlaken is amazing though, with the lakes.

Either way, you really can't go wrong with anywhere in Switzerland.
