Howard needs to do a better job of getting into position on the low block. They pass him the ball when he's too far away from the basket to do anything. It looks like they worked on entry passes, but they need to get him the ball in the right place in the right situation. Dwight is only effective < 8 ft from the rim.

I agree they should play Lin 48 minutes on Friday. This Beverly experiment is over. Send him back to Russia!

For you, entire team struggled in 1st qtr, yet PBev didn't? That does not make sense. More like you need to get your butt-kissing out of here. I am only telling what I saw, if you don't like it feel free to disagree. But don't tell me I am hating.

Or he needs to start using that backboard shot, a la Tim Duncan, that he was using in the preseason. He needs to create space for himself. When he receives the ball, just turn around and then decide if he can post up or just shoot that shot.

They need to get a better backup pg than Brooks. He has always been terrible on D and now that his offensive skills have deserted him, Brooks is essentially useless.

If you're going to call out Bev for "struggling", then you have to call out Harden and Howard for playing drunk in the first quarter too. Harden could iso all day and you'd blame Bev.

Yes, and I did that on the game thread. But this is PBEV thread. I want PBev to play better next game. But he did struggle in his first start and needs to improve on it. If not he should go back to bench. Again, feel free to disagree, but I am not hating.

thought it was interesting that he had the most shot attempts on the team in the first quarter until he came out.

don't know what to make of that, but the shot distribution i'd imagined, especially in the beginning of games, would be dwight, harden, parsons, then bev. at least that's what it was like when lin started games last year.

the fact is he did struggle last night, mostly on the defensive end. Walker shot 5-7 with Bev guarding him.

I'm going to give Bev a pass because the entire first half was awful, and I thought he played decent enough in his 10 minutes of playing.

Remember, we allowed 5 points LESS with Bev on the court last year. That's damn incredible. Most of what Bev does doesn't show on the stat sheet. As long as he takes care of the ball and shoots the open shot, that's all that we need from the starting PG.

Sometimes our perception deceives us from what is actually happening. In the first 6 minutes of the game (Lin replaced Bev with 6 mins left)...

First Rockets point for the season was a 3 ptr from Bev
Walker scored 4 points due to pick and rolls and not due to Bev's inability to defend one on one. You cannot blame him for that.
Bev had an offensive rebound and a putback.
Walker's missed his 3rd shot attempt due to Bev's good defense.
Walker scored again the next time around but Bev contested that shot fairly well but just went in.

    In 6 minutes, Kemba = 6 pts, Bev = 5 pts.

Doesn't look anywhere close to bad in my opinon

Sorry I get hypersensitive with the Lin fans these days. I can't tell who is making legit observations and opinions or who is just biased over Lin love.

Walker scored most of his first quarter points off of Bev. Lin shut him down when he was on him.

Dude, read my argument above and get back to me. In case you are too lazy:

    1. PBev is starting because we need to shut down/play better D against opposing PG. He struggled.

    2. PBev needs to shoot threes without hesitation or pass a wide open three. He did not.

    3. PBev needs to lessen the turnover. 2 TOs in 10 mins is not good.

What part of my argument above does it say anything about PBev scoring a put back 2 and three pointer?

    2. PBev needs to shoot threes without hesitation and especially wide open three (instead of passing it off). He did not.

Fixed. Wish I can edit my posts...
