You're kind of bringing up what I was talking about that "Some people believe if the US just pulls out of everywhere things would be good." The reality is is that the US is the most powerful nation in the world and it is the only country that can project power globally. What that means is that the US becomes the de facto go to to deal with major crisis in the world whether, military or humanitarian. As we see with Syria, Darfur, and Rwanda when the US doesn't react instead it get's blamed. I myself believe that it would be better to have a multipolar world or even some sort of international force but that won't happen anytime soon. While you're making an argument against military and political hegemony you are making an argument for an expanded economic hegemony, sort of like what the PRC is doing. Keep in mind that much of world resentment against the US isn't just because of the military but also because of economic hegemony. There is a reason why Marxist rebels in South America targeted American businesses. While Reagan didn't invade his Admin was very heavily involved in the Middle East. As I said that should be a goal we are working towards but it won't happen anytime soon.
True, so folks who might want a more effective tactic are seen as anti-US. Also of course these same "democracy lovers" lol usually support voter suppression in the US and the ability of a small group of super rich to purchase elections. Yet they fool themselves (some of them more naive anyway) that they care about democracy. Many supported the recent coups in Honduras and Egypt etc.
So, nobody answered the question why the kid's parent was killed in a war? There are children on all sides of wars that want and never get those kinds of answers. So what? What does Bush have to do with the Taliban? What lies are being used to target the Taliban? What do conservatives have to do with the Taliban? It's okay for the Taliban but not Republicans? Seriously? Geeeeeez.
I sure don't. A multipolar world inevitably leads to the polars competing with each other to come out on top. Terrorism is one thing, but the conflicts created by competing spheres of influence is an entirely different thing.
The short answer is yes, or he should not have been overthrown by a military coup. Although I am not that religious and do not personally like Islam or strict forms of it that much, I think that generally speaking less problems are caused by letting these problems take care of themselves in a more orderly manner. The next election or convincing the Bortherhoold to moderate would have been preferable. I personally would like to see the young secularists who led the Arab Spring be in power, but the military dictatorship will probably go after them next. This coup with the arrests and killing of the Muslim Bortherhood will probably lead to terrorism. I see no probable improvement at all with the return of the military dictatorship, no matter how comfortable the US, Israel and the international elite are with them. One good sized terrorist attack and we couldhae billions or even another trillion or so down the drain. To paraphrase Eishenauer every dollar spend on arms is a defeat for mankind.
In a world where great powers both have nukes but also interdependent economies I don't see a multi polar world leading to a major conflict. There will be rivalries, tensions and small conflicts but it wouldn't be in anyone's interest to have an all out war.
Just curious and I agree that so far the military isn't looking that good. That said I think Morsi had to go. He was clearly leading the country in a way that was going to be bad for Egypt or the reason.
Necessary casualties of war? Hey Mathloom, give me your mom's address so we can drone her house as a necessary casualty of your moral education. You're ****ing unbelievable.
america genetically modifies almost all its crops. america meddles, starts wars at the drop of a hat. america spies on its own citizens and allies. america attacks enemies with drones. america's banks end up tanking the economy and flipping the bill to the middle class. america's corporations have corrupted the political process. america's congress is an absolute embarrassment. and america killed that dudes mom VOTE 3rd Party in 2016
No, kid, I have never ever called for any other poster or their relatives to be physically harmed or anything similar to your post. Don't try to make it look better by making up lies.
The only post so far worth responding to. OF COURSE WITHOUT QUESTION, if the roles were reversed between the current 2013 governments, there would be more blood. I've never claimed that the US is worse than any other hegemon in history - except that it is more powerful than any other hegemon in history. Keep in mind that other hegemons had to deal with other super powers, while in our exchange here we are excluding the brutal period between the 40's and the 70's during which the US directly or indirectly was as bad as any other hegemon. Further, the size and power of the US is a totally different ballgame when you consider the impact on the world. Pakistani government doing something stupid has a more limited impact on the world than if the US government does the same stupid thing. But critical here is your usage of the word "nation", which is vague and confusing. It's not about nations. Iranians and Americans given the same social, economic and political situation would make exactly the same choices. This is how I see humans. The GROUP (but not necessarily every individual) will behave the same if they are in the same circumstances. While to you these things may lead you to think I shouldn't complain, I counter that by saying I hope that we all aim to complain about the biggest problems in the world even if they are our own. Particularly you, given your battlefield past, should completely understand that, given the relationship between our governments, my criticism of your government is virtually the same as being critical of my own government. If I was concentrated on being critical of China, you may assume that I'm being a political "homer" of sorts. But my government has no closer ally than your country, and in fact is heavily dependent on your country from the day it began existing and for the forseeable future. I don't even live in Iran or Pakistan or Afghanistan, nor do I share a religion with those people. Why do I care what happens there? Why would I harp on the US when the strength of the US greatly benefits "my" government? The answer is, I don't care about countries, I only care about people. That includes Americans: who I consider to be mistreated by the same government that I'm accusing of mistreatment here. When your healthcare sucks, I complain. When your economic conditions are poor, I complain. When Americans are stereotyped, I reject it. But that doesn't mean I have to like or respect the people who force their way into elected positions which should be yours, and do things that are no good for you and no good for me. All this other "America Hater!!" mumbo jumbo is meaningless to me. I won't allow this bs narrative created by the very people I'm pointing the finger at to be used by these minions against valid and legitimate criticisms of American foreign policy. Americans need to help themselves and until they get off their lazy asses and do that, the rest of the world is suffering with them and worse than them. One day the people of my region, when they are finally allowed to freely do so, are going to ask you why you subjugated us like cattle, and blamed us for our anger on your news channels, and the overwhelming majority of Americans didn't even gain much from it. It's nonsense. Your government is robbing you, and robbing us. As far as I'm concerned, Americans are not on the opposite side. We are on the same side, confronting the same groups. It's just less pressing to Americans because there's less death involved, and Americans have more to lose while they think doing this keeps their pockets full.
You're one of those people who dismisses mothers dying in Pakistan but when I make a rheotric about someone's mom, starts screaming murder. Double standard much?
You need your sarcasm detector checked and Can you stop replying to an Asian boy who desperately wants to be Aryan? Because that's what he is.
