You only change when it's not working. The best coach forces the other team to change...

doesnt work so far though. and I throw my word here: it wont work. it's too predictable and once they figure out cutting off the Harden-Howard PNR we only have those static ISOs left, the offense pretty much die off. why am I so confident? saw that last year. failed. both harden and dwright, although in different teams, their individual ISO plays are too easy for the defender to figure out and counter. need a third guy to initiate and get the ball moving, let them catch the ball in the flow while the defense is still moving and got loosen up or even disoriented by out ball movement, then let them unleash the devastating punch. alternatively we can hope harden play like lebron level and give him the ball let him handle everything like the first quarter, but clearly we can see it's no lebron there, why? simple, when lebron was 24 he is lebron already, and our harden is still harden he wont be lebron in this life. confident and motivation is one thing, over confident and doing something you actually cant do is another.

I am candian and this just reminds me of last year with the Raptors and Jose Calderon and Lowry. Casey kept on tinkering even though everybody knew he was going to go with Calderon and it was such a unnecessary **** show and was frustrating to watch

This mindset makes no sense to me. Just because we won doesn't mean we still can't talk about what could be better. it doesn't take away from how awesome the win is. Not sure why people say otherwise.

My experience with McHale from watching him fairly regularly when he started coaching is that he doesn't learn from his mistakes. But like you said we will see. This is a defining year for coaching staff as well as players right. We have DH12 and Harden on our team so coaches don't have much excuses we can't say we don't have talent. Also when you have big name players like DH12 & harden there is a bright spotlight on you because those guys have expectations. How much more talent do you need besides those two?

In the post season I see what you are talking about so I was mistaken on that aspect. In the post season you have time to scout the opposing player etc. But in the reg. season you don't have that kind of time so coaches are less likely to tinker and more likely to go with the sure/most consistent thing.

Lin played great, but if 80% of the posts after each game are going to be about Lin, I would trade him just to get rid of his fan base. The ignore function only helps so much. LOFs pop up like mushrooms after rain.

    Really?

In the playoffs alone last season, McHale switched to a small ball line-up after the Rockets struggled in the first game. The result was a game which the Rockets almost won (and could have won).

There are a million other line-up adjustments McHale made since his tenure as a Rocket. He started rookie Chandler Parsons over veteran Chase Budinger and look how that turned out.

Let's stay undefeated for at least 15 games.

This is crazy talk. I started as a Yao fan and became a die hard Rockets fan. Most fans are like this. They follow certain players and then grew into a fan of certain teams. Show some respect! Man.

Ah not even the addition of Howard can keep these "fans" quiet. Even in a win the thread is unreadable.

No disrespect intended and good for you that you became a Rockets fan, but even you have to admit that it has been ridiculous since we signed Lin.

I don't know you guys, but through all the years of following the Rockets. There was always consistent starting lineup barring an injury. I have not known we had different starting lineup depending on situations. Why changed when it ain't broke as someone already stated?

Observation: More people b**** about LOFs than there are LOFs. I just went back the past few pages of the game thread, and 90% of posts went along the lines of "OMG LOFS RUINING THE BOARD!" and not one message of someone over hyping Lin. In other words stfu.

You still have to find continuity with a set 5 and 3-5 rotational players. In the regular season you really don't have time to experiment with a bunch of line up changes. Granted we were able to get away with it last season.

Playoff's are a different story, coaches are able to make adjustments after each game. But normally they stick with what got them there and pimpn you know this. Roxxy already gave one example of a team tinkering with their line up to match up with the opposing team and they lost. I will add another team and that was the Dallas Mavericks who lost to the Warriors. They went awy from what got them the best record at that time and got bounced in the 1st round.

Them Cats came to win. They will definitely be better than previous seasons.
