If we all took a DNA test, we might find some things we didn't know. But due to the way race has been defined in the U.S. People would still consider him Black. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/u5_6zulQObc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
... SMH... Garcia is Dominican... From Dominican Republic, he is not black or half black. He is Dominican just like Al Horford.
That's just describing his nationality. Joakim Noah and Tony Parker both are still Black and French. If you want to argue where they're from. Go look at Ike Diogu and their national team. A lot of them are literally African-American, since they have both American and Nigerian background.
I don't want to use the word ignorant... but seriously... I'm Dominican, and he is fully Dominican both his parents are too, HE IS NOT BLACK! and the OT should be edited...
I can't believe that discussions about his race are still occurring. Are we being trolled or are there that many newbs this season? Posting in potential epic thread .
Using the word ignorant? what for? https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/dr.html People and Society :OMINICAN REPUBLIC Nationality: noun: Dominican(s) adjective: Dominican Ethnic groups: mixed 73%, white 16%, black 11%
It's funny that you said this because I was thinking the same thing during tonight's game. They both play a similar game (3's and defense) and also share a similar build/appearance.
If you can't see that Garcia is black, then open your eyes. This guy is becoming one of my favorite Rockets.... ever... in 2013-14.
That just color... This is so absurd, I don't know why you trying to make this point about him being black when it's obvious he is not, he is hispanic, Dominican. Someone mentioned his hair is "black" like seriously!? So, my dad has "black" hair (He is dominican) and I have "white" hair so I'm white!? I won't argue about this, if I'm going to take your argument, Garcia is more "white" than "black." Now, if you want to go back thru history hundreds of years back then yes there is a mix of Spaniards, African, and "Natives" that were here before Colombus came. But, if that's you argument, than there is no "Americans" because in reality they are Europeans... I'm done, this is a dumb argument. He is Dominican. If you want someone that is Black and also Dominican than Karl Towns is your man. I'm out...
not that it matters but he's from the dominican republic...so techinically more of a mixture of hispanic and african american
I think you took it the wrong way. But if you want to be politically correct about it, then make sure you don't use the term "Black" to describe any other mixed players including: Scott Machado - American and Brazilian Jordan Farmar - Jewish American Former Rocket - Romel Beck - Mexican-American:
