Good to see you are doing well and not just lying around in a semi-diabetic coma or something drifting in and out to Fox News. I have been worried about you.
You are suffering from a particularly sad case of Obama Derangement Syndrome. to quote you: Obama has moved greatly toward the center since when he was younger.
I just have a completely different read, thumbs. I see a lot of former conservative Democrats who became Reagan Republicans that are now looking at the GOP and not seeing a party they recognize. They don't see a party that fits their ideological bent, which leans towards moderate social views, and conservative fiscal ones. I know several Republicans like that. They don't want to be Republicans in name only, but they are not given a real choice in the matter. Unless they change their own beliefs to conform to those of the current Republican leadership, they simply don't fit. Those Republicans are being driven out of the GOP by the GOP. They are becoming independent voters, and yes, even Democrats. In my humble opinion.
I agree to a certain extent. However, those that I know in that category, Democrat and Republican, also can't stomach the current administration and its policies. They are caught in the middle and that is one of the reasons why I am targeting RINOs and DINOs in support of middle of the road candidates. The reason I always correct "The Tea Party" references to tea parties is that there is wide range of opinions and strategies within the various tea parties. Just as there some far left Democratic groups there are some tea parties who are way out to the right. The tea parties with which I have been associated are mostly small business owners and management types who have a vested interest in keeping their eyes on the donut and not the hole.
The truth hurts, but a good attorney always tries to protect his cause. I still look forward to a breakfast together, but, in your case, I would prefer limiting to you and me. We have such different approaches to politics, I think it would be a lot of fun. Remember, though, I have dialysis until 10 a.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
I see you don't like having this administration's congressional hearings tactics used against you. However, since you and SamF think I am trolling you, then report me. If you can get one ClutchFans Administrator to agree that I troll this board, or even that I post irresponsibly, I will not post here again. Your move.
You still won't answer my question. Trolling is an art and you're merely performing one genre of it: being willfully obtuse. I can only assume you're currently reading all of Robert Caro's books on Lyndon Johnson, which would explain your delay in answering me: Which specific policies has President Obama put forth that move the role of government "to the left of" Lyndon Johnson? Bonus points for no buzzwords and "-gate" suffixes.
Thank you for your concern. I walk at least two miles per day, am down to 160 pounds, and my doctors want me to apply for a kidney transplant since they all project me living well into my 90s. However, I don't want to live with the feeling that I may have taken a kidney away from some kid who has his or her whole life in front of him or her. I'm retired and rather enjoy reading -- actually listening -- to audio books four hours a day.
Using this to dodge the question makes your argument seem very weak. Answer the question. In a real-world sense of actual policy, how is Obama to the left of LBJ? This lack of understanding of the true spectrum of left and right in America, both historically and present day, is a main feature of the Tea Party. If the main argument for "Obama is a big socialist OMG" is the ACA, which is a plan of mandated private insurance taken right out of the playbook of the Heritage Foundation and 90's republicans, then you need to readjust your perspective. A lot.
In all seriousness, I'm happy to hear you're doing well. I wish you good health and continued recovery.
Very good post, thanks for your contribution. I would also proffer that the Tea Party offers a place for that most confused and self conflicting figure in modern American politics: the Ayn Rand Christian. He who was first shall be last, he who was last shall be first. Blessed are the meek, blessed are the poor. The rich shall enter heaven as a camel passes through the needle of an eye. PLUS Greed, selfishness, and the natural instinct to compete against others for material gain is the number one economic catalyst we must harness to create a better world. Any attempt to regulate this leads inexorably to a slippery slope towards communism and slavery, without exception. EQUALS Madness.
I'll go ahead and file your silence away as an admission that you have no idea what you're talking about. I've asked you multiple times in this thread to back up your claims and, throughout 7 threads, you've acted childish and threatened to take your toys and go home. I was not the one who made the assertion that Barack Obama is the most "leftist" president while expressing fondness for both Lyndon Johnson and John Kennedy. That was you. You've gotten upset that I called you out on your cognitive dissonance and, with multiple posters asking you to answer the question, you've refused to answer a simple question. I'll go ahead and answer it for you: Barack Obama is nowhere left of Lyndon Johnson on the ideological spectrum. Party lines and ideological divides are not set in stone and when you resort to hyperbole to express your dissatisfaction ("the most liberal evar!"), you weaken your own argument. Good health to you, thumbs.
