Dwight brings rebounding and rim protection to the table. CP3 doesn't. That's the difference. CP3 can win a title with his talent, but DJ and Blake Griffin must improve their rebounding and defense in the paint. Getting out-rebounded by the Lakers is their problem. If you were to replace DJ with Tyson Chandler, they'd be a much better team.
We wouldn't beat them in a 7 game? The Rockets match up so well with the Clippers it would be a dream come true if we met the Clips in the playoffs. The Rockets big lineup matches up very well against Memphis,SA,OKC,LA C Bring it on.
Seriously? Combo guards - Parker, Isaiah, Mo Cheeks, Dennis Johnson, Walt Frazier Distributors- Kidd, Rondo (c'mon 16 assist game in the finals. PG and PF was always the Lakers weak spots) Kitchen sink - Big O, Jerry West, Magic I can't hold anything against Stockton who ran up against Jordan, or Nash who got screwed by the league. Or any of Kidd's outmatched teams. The problem is not that you can't win with a ball-dominant guard, its that GMs typically surround ball-dominant guards with guys who can't get their own shots, particularly bigs who can't do anything but finish. It is damn near impossible to win a title without a great big man, multiple allstar caliber players, and at least two guys who can create. David West/Tyson Chandler and Blake Griffin/Deandre Jordan are not in the same stratosphere as Garnett, Dirk, Duncan, Pau/Bynum or anybody/Shaq. I wouldn't take any big CP3 has played with over Horace Grant or Dennis Rodman. Its the same in football- a team drafts a stud mobile quarterback, then settles for a crappy O-line, mediocre receivers, no run game because he can pull miracles out his @ss. Then they lose against a complete team in the playoffs and the pundits say "you can't win with a mobile quarterback." Nobody in any pro sport but golf and tennis wins without help.
CP3 has help. He got destroyed by Tony Parker and Conley two years in a row. Teams make adjustments, and they stop him in the playoffs. Overrated player. Not the third best player in the league. Skill wise he may be, but I am curious to see what his win shares are. I think he makes teams better, but he can't make a good team great.
Not to blow up your argument, but after Hakeem lost Sampson and he was by himself as the main superstar, he put up FOUR 1st round exits, and one lottery season. And before you say anything about chris paul's 9 seasons. Realize this, that Paul came into the league at 20. Hakeem at 22. And if it weren't for Sampson, there is no way in hell the Rockets get to the finals without him in 86. Kinda puts things into perspective don't it? Chris Pual is the greatest point guard to ever play this game, and if he anybody CLOSE to his talent to play with, if he had, say, Demarcus Cousins (he should have demarcus cousins and anybody else) Chris Paul would get to the finals. If I were the clippers, I'd do anything to try to get Cousins to the clippers.
Cousins is a head case. Paul has talent, but is he someone other players want to play with? There have been rumors before about disgruntled teammates. Greatest ever? LOL, ridiculous.
Stupid I'm sure you can dissect everybody and find flaws in they're game. But CP is definitely not overrated in anyway. He's an elite passer, good defender & the best playmaker at his position. Not to mention he's a top 5 closer. Name 5 point guards better than CP
Cousins is a headcase. But he is also the closest thing in the current nba to Karl Malone. Chris Paul/Cousins combo would be deadly in less than 3 years. The kings might do it straight up for Blake Griffin. Like i said, get Cousins with Chris Paul and add some complimentary players and they'd get to the finals with that tandem.
Derrick Rose/Russell Westbrook I would take both of those Combo PG's over Chris Paul. I think this league isn't meant for ball dominant pg's like CP3. He is too passive at times, and that hurts his team. Rose and Westbrook look to score every play.
Curious on where they Cousins hype is coming from? Huge body, likes the outside jumper. He will never learn.
This is the problem For some reason people believe this team is mega talented. It just isn't. Beyond Chris Paul, there really isn't any consistant scoring option. Blake Griffith should be averaging 23-27 points a game. But he is still mediocre down low. Plus, he sucks at the free throw line. If anything, he is the guy that is overrated. Jordan is developing as a defensive presence -- and that is not a bad thing. He can be this teams Tyson Chandler, but that's it. But really, this team beyond Chris Paul, isn't really that special. Don't know why people see them as contenders. They are basically-at best second round washouts.
Rose doesn't have a jumper and Westbrook plays recklessly. Paul is by far the most complete point guard in the game. What you don't understand is that Paul has more scoring ability than Rose and isn't far behind Westbrook...he just prefers to get his teammates involved.
Curious where your skepticism of demarcus cousins's game comes from? He'll never learn that he has a huge body? Or an outside jumper? The dude had 17 10 and a 20 per, and he ain't even trying yet. This year Cousins will prove, if he hasn't done it already, that he is the best power forward in the game and a superstar. After this year, NOBODY will be able to trade for demarcus cousins. He'll be untouchable.
Several run ins with coaches. Seems un-coachable and immature. Usually those players do not get better. Not even trying? So are you insinuating that he does not have heart? I don't see it in his game. Lazy player.
Both of these players are better in a team setting than CP3. Both have already had more playoff success than CP3. Both don't get torn up by Tony Parker/Mike Conley in the playoffs. Chris Paul is skilled, but he is too passive to be so ball dominant. IF Chris Paul looked to score more, than I would be on board. He kills his teams in the playoffs. "Don't believe me just watch"
Dwight Howard? Hakeem? Ring a bell. But unlike Howard, who is on a downward trajectory in terms of coachablity, Cousins is on an upward trajectory of being more mature. Again, if the rockets had gotten Cousins, rather than howard, they would find an easier path to the finals. Not because howard is terrible, but because he doesn't have the talent of cousins. howard isn't even top 15 of alltime centers in this league, Cousins' has the potential to be in the top 5. Those are the facts. Like it or not.
We'd lose in 6 games. We don't have the depth to beat them. Blake Griffin will take a dump on whoever guards him and CP3 will be CP3
Both of them also have significantly better teammates than CP3. Rose's team was good enough to make it to the 2nd round of the playoffs WITHOUT him, and Westbrook isn't even the best player on his team.
