you can probably get one at a place like Walmart or Target

that is, assuming they didn't start taking pre-orders, they may have. I remember I got a Wii at walmart on launch day without pre-order though, but that was like 7 years ago.

or it might vary by store if they take pre-orders. I'd try calling your local ones. If not them, maybe one of those HEB Plus', the ones with the electronics sections? I think those sell video games. Most people probably wouldn't think to look at an HEB.

That's not what was said as far as I know. Just the first year is an exclusive im sure because MS paid for it

Saw that. Like he said it initially was just a timed exclusive and even the devs just found out it was permanent. Doesnt change anything for me really, I was expecting to play it on pc long prior.

They confirmed it's just for Titanfall 1. Doesn't stop Respawn from releasing Titanfall 2 a year later on both systems.

Might be technically possible to do a Titanfall GOTY edition for PS4, but given the wording from the devs and others, I doubt it (I think that was their original plan, and IIRC they were even working on a PS4 build recently). Does sound like the rest of the franchise will be on as many platforms as possible though (or at least that's what the devs want).

Not sure it really changes too much. Think it might have been 9-12 months later for the PS4 version. Good for the PS4 owners who held out, but don't think these releases generally do that well (most people would have either played it on 360, PC, or XBO by that point). At that point, probably best to just focus on the next game (bundle the first game with that if necessary).

It's a big win for Xbox, but I think that people are acting like it's some huge earth shaking change. It's not like a PS4 version was ever announced, and I don't think it changes a lot of people's choices in purchase. Plus it's Source engine, don't get me wrong the game looks great but I imagine most people who play games on their PCs are capable of running this game (it's going to be on 360 after all). Anyway, it sucks but it's just 1 game and both consoles have a very long life span ahead of them. Besides they made it pretty clear future iterations will be multi-platform.

I hit on the main things. Well, the things I (kind of) care about.

There's SO MUCH there, and none of it is really earth-shattering, but could be interesting to individuals depending on what you want to know. Stuff like "can I turn off the light bar?", "what kind of HDD can I use?", "how many accounts can I have on a system?", "what can I do with the PS4 camera?", etc.

edit: Oh yeah, I forgot about no PS1 and PS2 support (even the ones from the PS Store). I think they confirmed that before, but still blows my mind that they'd throw away money like that. Maybe they just assume Gaikai streaming can cover that...somehow.

The PS4 comes with a camera? What's the light bar? I just preordered for tradition's sake, I don't have time to learn about it. Fill me in. Bullets.

I just read this. No DLNA / media server capability really pisses me off.

I did buy a smart TV recently because my previous one died, so I suppose it's not as big a deal since my TV can do it natively. And, I could always just use my PS3 for it or buy a Roku player.

Still though... why the eff would they take that away? Grrrr... not cool Sony...

Doesn't come with a camera, but if you get it ($60 I think?), you'd get some additional features (plus can use games that need it, like Just Dance). You can use it for voice commands (launch a game, take a screenshot, etc.), among other things. Note you can use a headset for voice commands as well, and the PS4 does include that.

The light bar is a...light bar on the PS4 controller (DualShock 4). It is partly used in conjunction with the camera (if you have it, similar to the light ball thing on PS Move controllers), but developers can also use it for other purposes (flash red if you're getting shot at or whatever).

Just seems odd given how standard the components are (and the OS isn't completely from scratch either). I appreciate that they're focusing on gaming (and by all means, they seem to be getting that right), but I'd expect a bit better support than this. Even though these are minor features, it doesn't seem that difficult to support, and would make a difference to a lot of people.

I'm willing to cut them some slack if they patch much of this in during the next 6-12 months or so. I guess this is better than the PS3, which couldn't even properly scale games (so people with 1080i TVs might have been forced to use 480p), but ideally you'd be able to nail all the "basics." Doesn't seem like that much to ask for.

Waitaminute... what about this point in the FAQ:
Soooooo... when they say "cache," I generally assume that term means temporarily install just for that session? And we're talking the entire game? Or are we talking installing every disc-based game I put in, so I have to delete it when I run out of space?

Either way... wouldn't that put a tremendous amount of wear-and-tear on the hard drive?

Yeah I mean... to this day, I still use my PS3 to watch downloaded soccer matches. My TV can't handle that format, nor can my 360.

The PS3 is such an all-star for video support... why would they gimp that in the PS4?

From what I can recall from a previous discussion (Sony...maybe Shu...commented on this recently), you only have the single cache, not multiple caches for multiple games. I believe they explicitly said that if you're playing CoD and KZ, you'd only need ~50GB of storage, not 100GB.

It is even a little unclear how the caching works (i.e., if you only play some parts of the game, does the whole ~50GB get cached?).

I kind of hope you can optionally install the games if you'd like, though not sure they commented on that specifically. I guess if the games are properly engineered, there might not be a huge difference.

It does make me wonder. I mean, in the last month, I've been rotating between playing Fifa, Dragon's Crown, and Payday 2. Sometimes I'll play 2 of them in a night, or on a weekend maybe all three.

So if I play Dragon's Crown for a couple hours, then throw in Payday 2... do I then need to sit there and wait for Payday 2 to cache for several minutes? I would have to think not, because good god, that would be impossibly awful. Still they're very unclear in this FAQ.

I think I'll need to consider a day 1 upgrade of the hard drive. Especially considering they *also* haven't made clear whether you can even plug in an external hard drive in order to back up data (to facilitate a hard drive switch after you have already been using the first hard drive for awhile).
