I can't agree with that. Clearly, Lin was given the job because he was obviously better than those guys. Even if he struggled, he was going to be given the opportunity to play through it. He hasn't shown that in regards to Beverley. When two guys have similar ability, other things like roles on the team come into play more. Asik is a prime example. He's starting at the PF because he is head and shoulders better than Casspi and T-mo, not because he is the best fit.
It is a waste of contract money because Jeremy Lin is not 8 times better than Patrick Beverley. On the contrary, he even got "outplayed" by Patrick Beverley in the pre-season. If your team's starting point guard is earning only 800K / year, the backup should be earning less! Would you pay your starting point guard 8 million bucks / year only to get outplayed by the backup point guard that is paid 800K / year? Scott Machado would have been Beverley's best backup. Not Jeremy Lin.
James Harden is not 13 times better than Chandler Parsons. Such a waste of money! I rather pay a max contract to a player that is actually 13 times better than Chandler Parsons rather than James Harden, who is definitely not 13 times better than Chandler Parsons. Time to boycott the Rockets. White House Down 2 would be Lin fans taking over the White House and demanding the Rockets start Jeremy Lin and play him 48 minutes a game or they will nuke the world.
I've read on here plenty of times that McHale wanted Lin to come off the bench because its best for the team. So it had nothing to do with winning the starting job. Both players played damn good with the starting unit and coming off the bench.
James Harden would be an absolute waste of money if he was playing behind a guard getting paid only 2 million / year. Rockets do not need to start Jeremy or play him for 48 minutes a year. I actually see this tribulation for him as toughening him up so that when he becomes a starter for another team after his contract is up with the Rockets, his starting place on that team will at least, be undisputed
Bwhahahaah outplayed how, that makes no sense. Plus the organization brought Lin over here because his market value would net them a profit. Their revenue's were very low once Yao and Tracy went down and the team stuck in mediocrity. Maybe this is the end of Lin's career here in Htown. They do have to pay the man what 15 mil if he is on the roster next year.
Trust me, it makes no sense to me either, but according to some very prestigious people here on CF, Jeremy got outplayed by Beverley in the preseason, and thus, Beverley deserves the starting spot. I've watched the preseason matches over again, and been scratching my head wondering how it is justifiable that they believe that Beverley actually outplayed Jeremy... but hey, they're the seniors here, and they've probably watched basketball several years longer than I have. So *shrug* better adopt what they said.
So what you are saying is, Manu Ginobli is a waste of money because he started behind Michael Finley, who was getting paid 3 million to Ginobli's 9 million. Makes perfect sense.
Yes, because two completely different contexts somehow means the point is less relevant. You claim it's waste of money if the starter is being paid less than the bench. Therefore, you are saying Manu Ginobili is a waste of money.
Oh my God. If that happens, can we get a safehouse somewhere in the mountains of Peru? I don't want to be anywhere near internet access.......
Pimpn I already know bwhahahaahhaha both players played darn good in the starting line up and coming off the bench. I just don't understand why McHale went this route anyways. I know Lin played inconsistent at times but he had a decent year. IMO he should have started the season as a starter. If he lost his starting job during the season, then that's on him. This is why Dragic and Lowery didn't want to come back here. But hey they lost huh because we are on a title run now. LOL
Why did you poach my post from the other Jeremy thread, brah? And to top it off, you left off the hilarious .gif of Bruce Lee. I wonder if Bruce Lee had LOF's too. Long live 6th man, Linobili!
Damn, I've been trying to find the posts saying that Patrick Beverley is way better value for money then Jeremy because he earns only 1/8th of Jeremy's contract and Jeremy is not 8 times the player he (Beverley) is, so that's why Beverley should start for the Rockets. Unfortunately, they are stuck in threads that with 600 - 800 posts, so it is too much effort to go through
It's called an unpopular opinion if you have to go through 800 posts to find it. That means most people do not share that opinion.
Maybe, but its posted by senior posters with lots of green under their names, so must carry some weight!
I've never seen anyone post that in my time here. Not saying they haven't, but it's certainly not a prevalent opinion. I think you can discard that as an outlier (and pretty irrational).
