our record was only a bit over 500 and we barely improved from the year before with no injuries whatsoever

so i guess for me, thats not THAT great of an accomplishment and we should expect more from a coach as we have a crazy team assembled by Morey and need a coach that doesnt f around that has a track record of getting rings

Despite Lin starting, because obviously PB would have been a much better fit, who outplayed Lin.

This is what I mean. Acting a fool and throwing a fit is not how Lin would act, and it's not how his supporters should act.

I like your Lin, but I do not like your Linians. Your Linians are so unlike your Lin.

I must admit, it was pretty ingenious of McHale.

Really nice. Turning someone's sincere post into your "evidence" - See, you are biased, and I am so objective.

You are exactly the type spinning everything towards your view no matter what.

last night I watched the lakers game and saw how mike's system can work with ball movement, nothing against Kobe but if he was playing going into that 4th Q he would have took 40% of the shots in attempt to bring the team back, if shots go in great (hes a superstar) but if not the team never regains the lead because it's easy for team to a adjust to one player and other players getting cold watching shots go up vs the ball movement with whole team being involved.

I have faith in Harden/mchale but too much ISO and not enough ball movment is my biggest fear as a Rockets fan

Win or lose, Lin is still gonna get blamed the most for stuff, even though he's now the team's 5th scoring option, and coming off the bench. It won't make any sense but that's just the nature of the beast around here.

But we DID improve, despite the fact that it was a completely different team than the year before -- no Lowry, no KMart, no Patterson, no Morris, no Dragic, etc. We were ridiculously young, yet we still managed to pass a lot of more experienced teams with arguably better rosters. Hell, we were neck and neck with the Lakers and their much-touted 4-superstar lineup. Sure, Harden was a big factor, but McHale was still calling the shots.

maybe mchale hasn't said anything because he's not sure if this is the lineup he's going to stick with? he normally is a bit chippy with the media and feels like pulling teeth getting anything out of him, but at the same time, there's no reason to say anything and set anything in stone if he's not even convinced himself.

I can't believe people are talking about boycotting the Rockets just because Lin isn't going to start.

I've grown to like McHale, so I'm not arguing with you on that, but I think Lin doesn't get enough credit for being part of that success. He started 82 games, pushed the pace, distributed the ball, and generally made everyone look like some sort of offensive weapon. Not trying to say anything more than he was a key contributor to last season's progress. In that, I would've thought the starting position was his to lose this season, but it doesn't seem that was the case.

Then again a few weeks ago people were talking about boycotting the Texans if Schaub was starting.

I agree. I'm a big Lin fan. Beverley was a key component after he started getting minutes, too. And Omer was a defensive rock all year. But I've seen too many teams with talented young players who don't live up to their potential. Under McHale last year, most of them did. I'd argue that Jeremy didn't, but he still played really well and it was a strange season for him in a lot of ways. I honestly think his moving to 6th man is the best thing that could happen to his career right now.

I wish they would boycott clutchfans instead. I'm tired of posters polluting the forum with nonsense.

An 8th seed. Youngest team in the league, in both actual age and experience. Vast majority of players getting their first taste of the postseason. Against the #1 seed who had just taken a trip to the NBA Finals.

Blaming that struggle on McHale is the reachiest (yes, reachiest) of reaches. They outperformed all expectations, and it's silly to pretend he had nothing to do with that.

    Game 2 wasn't a blowout, either.

I'm not certain what your issue is here. I acknowledged that his post was sincere and stated outright that I was not trying to be contentious -- and I'm not. His post actually helped me to see where he is coming from when he accuses McHale and others of being racist against Asians.

Projection is real, and a legitimate concept. Someone who does not buy heavily into stereotypes and preconceived notions themselves isn't likely to assume that others do. Someone who, by his own admission, believed that Asians could not excel at professional basketball and refuses to live around black people because we are likely criminals -- a person who thinks that way IS likely to assume that other people carry around the same prejudices.

It's not a criticism of Fighton at all. I think it's human nature to assume that other people view the world in a way that is similar to the way you do.

Even if it's the lineup he's going with for tonight or for a few games as a test run, I don't think a statement would hurt. There's a 100% chance he'll be asked about it post-game, so I'm sure we'll get something.
