If the Asik/Howard combo can work on offense, then this team is as good as any in the west

And where did the Twin towers in nba come from? The real twin towers building. Dwight and Asik aren't copying those two people. There getting nicknamed Twin Towers because of the Twin Towers in The U.S.

It's going to look ok for awhile, but I can't see this working out long term. It's good that they're both willing passers but Asik doesn't have the best hands. Once teams get a sense of what's going on, the spacing is going to get tight. They'll also struggle defensively with younger faster teams that will force McHale to adjust early. The final thing is this lineup will never work at the end of games. Luckily, there's a lot of options to try throughout the season.

Look, it's not going to work well against teams with 4 that can camp at the 3 point line and drain buckets.

But forget that for a moment. Most of the best teams in the West don't play that style.

Memphis, Clippers, Spurs, Golden State and OKC all have units they run out there that have two big guys.

The spurs and OKC may go small on you to try to negate your advantage, but the Clippers, Memphis and Golden State all prefer to have their big men at PF and C on the court.

    Blake-DeAndre
    Randolph-Gasol
    Lee-Bogut

Asik-Howard can match up with those pairings very well. In the playoffs we will love Howard-Asik. If the Clippers want to take DeAndre off the court to go small, great. If the Grizz want to take Randolph or Gasol off, great! If the Warriors want to sit Lee, great!

We can then turnaround and matchup just fine against their small lineups.

The Rockets' Twin Towers name came at the heel of UK's Mel Turpin & Sam Bowie combo. They were the Twin Towers of the NCAA. That nickname just followed through into the NBA. You can argue Turpin & Bowie's version came from the buildings, but there are no hard evidence.

"Twin Towers" has a specific meaning to Rockets' history. So yes it also could just apply to any set of two particular tall people, building or things but we are talking about the Houston Rockets here.

McHale knows better than all of us combined. Morey also. They are just doing due diligence. Expect numerous lineups to be tried in the first 6 weeks of this season. As much for seeing how other teams react as for evaluating the productivity of the lineup. While the addition of Howard this season pales in comparison to the addition of Harden last season it does warrant a complete evaluation of the rotation. It is what great coaching staffs do.
