Yeah, I've heard he's not the easiest guy to work with. Having said that, I wish I was one of the guys that worked for him when he started Broadcast.com. I'd be a millionair right now.

Cuban is like a snotty little kid with anger issues and a sense of entitlement

Look, you'd have to think that Rosas knew even before he interviewed that even though he was going to be given the title GM, that he wasn't going to have complete say so over roster moves, and acquisitions.

I'm going to go on a limb and say that there was a catalyst to this decision being made on both ends, and the most obvious conclusion for me to make would be a potential trade that Rosas might have been working on that signaled a change in the franchise that Cuban and Nelson were not comfortable with.

Could have been as big as a Dirk trade, or it could have just been Marion, but it seems to me like Gersson felt pretty strongly about a deal or deals that would have sent the franchise in another direction, and Cuban didn't have the stomach for it.

His quitting is probably just corporate speak. A firing looks even worse both for him and for Cuban, so even if Cuban was incredibly pissed off at him he might offer him the chance to "resign." Could still be anything.

Yes his resigning is corporate speak for "We don't get along, let me move on before I get fired" Dallas wasn't ready for the full out Rocket way of doing things. Also, he may have overstepped his bounds on a couple of occassions without developing effective relationships internally.

My one piece of advice to anyone on this GARM in a new job, develop relationships 1st before you start trying to change things.

Sad to hear about this, hoping he has another opportunity show up in the future. I'm sure he has a place with the Rockets, but wondering if he would have to take a step down. Might just be worth it to wait and see if GM position opens up.

I've never worked for Cuban, but I did work WITH him about a decade ago. I wrote and asked him to do something fun for my website and he responded that he'd be happy to. We worked together to craft a top 10 list of why it's great being the owner of an NBA team, and he didn't just mail it in. Got my site a lot of publicity, and Mark did it for free. I've emailed him a few times since then and he always responds. He might suck as a boss, but he's not a terrible person in general.

Here's the list Mark did for us...

The Top 14 Cool Things About Owning an NBA Team

14> Get to say things like "I'm looking for a guy with good
ball-handling skills" without getting your ass kicked.

13> Not that you would, but if you wanted to you could rename
    them the Dallas Binky-Bonky-Boinky-Bunnies.

12> Your friends may have Picassos and Rembrandts hanging in
their drawing rooms; but YOU have a 6'8" purple-haired
tattoo-covered ex-rebound champ serving cocktail wienies.

11> You don't see the babes flocking to a badminton team owner,
    do you?

10> Forget to buy your girlfriend a birthday gift? No sweat --
have Rodman spot you a fur coat and some jewelry.

9> Good for some serious "street cred" with the other young
    billionaires.

8> Getting to approve the final design of the cheerleader
    uniforms.

7> "...and for the fifth pick in the draft, the Mavericks select
Hugh Jass. Hugh Jass? Is there a Hugh Jass here? Mavericks,
could you please bring your Hugh Jass up to the podium?"

6> Always a chance Van Gundy will hump your leg.

5> NBA players are in it for the pure joy of the sport --
unlike those greedy bastards in the NFL.

4> Get to hit Shaq upside the head for making "Kazaam."

3> For every hottie the players get, you get 20!

2> You get to one-up Bill Gates with snide comments like, "So,
how is YOUR team doing? Oh, that's right, you don't HAVE
    a team, do you?"

and the Number 1 Cool Thing About Owning an NBA Team...

1> Can tell the coach to run plays that involve pulling down
    the other team's shorts.

He wanted to trade Dirk. Plain and simple. Good for Rosas though since he won't have to be Mark's yes man.

Yeah after reading Dirks tweet. It is very plausible there was a trade i the works that would have shipped Dirk somewhere else.

I guess you could say the Mavs are more loyal than the rockets organization. Don't know if it is a good or bad thing.

I'd have to say that Dirk's trade value won't be getting much higher than it is now. If he's not enough to drag that team to a title, then trading him is the smart basketball thing to do. But maybe Cuban wants to see Dirk retire as a Mav and is willing to sacrifice another 2 or 3 seasons of mediocrity for that. As the owner of the team, it's his choice.

Trying to trade away a beloved franchise player to start a potentially slow rebuilding process? Yeah, that will get you shipped off quickly, I would have thought Rosas would be smart enough to know the temperature of the room.
