yes, any logical person would assume that coach, but the thing is alot of people are saying that Lin got outplayed. He didn't get outplayed. As Ez said, you don't get dropped because you're backup played an iota better in the preseason. The 'fit' argument is the only one that really holds any weight, and frankly I agree with what Mchale has done to maxmise everyones contribution to the team.

Anyone who genuinely thinks Lin got outplayed over the course of this pre-season is just venting some deep-seated animosity.

    See below.

Plus statements from several other folks here whom I just can't be bothered to search for at the moment. Maybe that Spiegel kid can help me out.

The Rockets is now kind of "Stanford" to Lin.
They lied to him and wanted him to walk in as backup.

Lin would rather went to Harvard, a weaker team, because he didn't want to play for the coach who didn't trust him.

Benching a full year starter based on pre-season games, not losing streaks, is ridiculous, not to say Lin did play well.
It proves Lin is never on the Rockets's plan and will be traded.

Lin was definitely on Les's plan, maybe Morey's but everyone else I can't say for sure.

Follow the fuhrer, whatever he says, it must be true!

I was just starting to get excited about this team but this is a real damper. As a Lin fan, hard to get emotionally invested in the team when there's a good chance your favorite player will be gone in two years.

I hope Lin at least still gets 30 minutes a game.

I am ok with it but I must say the Cats.aint not an offensive team.
And not tall either. No need to go all High Towers and defensive PG on dem....

I understand the coaching staff's decision to bench Lin. In fact, i know lin is going to flourish as a 6th man.

But Lin is in a no win situation. Many of us now say that it will benefit him the most, and maybe it will.

But his inflated numbers will only fuel haters and they will claim that such numbers were padded due to Lin playing the scrubs not the starters.

Obviously, Lin will not bring linsanity back as a starter. He will be the 4th option if he played as a starter, and playmaking will be mostly in Harden's hands.

Obviously whether Lin is on the bench and or a starter, he losses.

The only way for him to save himself is ask for a trade, or the rockets trade him for someone else.

After that i truly hope clutchfans will be at peace with itself, and no lin to divide its members into lofs and lohs.

I really like this move. Pat Beverly has been impressive from what I've seen during the preseason games. He fits in with the starting unit perfectly considering our best player Harden is a ball dominant SG. At times last year, I felt that Lin and Harden considering that both needed the ball to be effective, clashed at times. It just felt like there was a hiccup in chemistry between the two and they couldn't get it quite right.

With Beverly starting, he would play a similar role to what Derek Fisher was for the Lakers. Basically, a PG that isn't ball dominant and isn't required to have strong playmaking skills. This PG ideally would be a great perimeter defender and can knock down the spot up three or break down a defender occasionally to slip in a floater from time to time. The player touching the ball and making decisions would primarily be Harden or Kobe in LA's case. Also, now that we have Howard, Beverly should definitely work on the post entry pass to be the perfect complimentary PG for Rockets one two punch.

As a Rockets fan I'm stoked about the season. It must suck to be a fan of a player and not a team.

This is a great thing. It just adds another dimension to our offense with Lin coming off the bench while giving us a stronger defensive unit to start the game with Beverly starting. I know some people will always prefer this player to that but what's most important is that the Rockets get those wins. They will be fun to watch and once everything gets going, this won't be as big of a deal. Once everyone settles into their roles, the rest of the league shouldn't be surprised about the Rockets.

Nah, not suck, just feel a little damp... Speaking for myself, i become a rocket fan because of Lin. I want to watch him play, and he plays for the rockets. So i root for the rockets all the way because team win is a win for all including Lin. I just hope that in the process of winning, Lin is there playing minutes. Just so happen that it may not happen, so yeah, happy for a rockets win, but more happy if lin contributed. I have no beef with this starter/not starter. Part of reason is Lin. He is still inconsistent, makes dumb plays ... Sometimes makes me want to shred my LOF card. So yeah... A little down but rooting for rockets to win all the way.

How exactly do you become the fan of the team, especially if you don't live in Houston? There has to be something that draws you in or attracts your attention. We may start of as Jeremy Lin fans but I don't see why you can't eventually be a Rockets fan.

Heck, I'm sure some of you holier than thou posters started out as Rockets fans from being Hakeem fans or Yao fans.

Its this sense of superiority I really do not get. So you supported the team earlier. Good for you.

Why can't Jeremy Lin fans eventually become Rockets fans?

Ask for a trade and play for a non-contender?

He'll ignore criticism and hate this season.
You can do this as well right? :)

i'm ok with it, to be honest lin always in no win situation so why try to please people when it's not possible. all he has to do is be effective, make shots especially 3 pointers, not turnover ball and continue to work on his left hand and either the rox will pick him back up or he'll start somewhere else.

    I forget, didn't Lin sign a contract?

So, he sort of has to do what the organization wants him to do.

And if he plays as a starter, a backup, or is traded - he still gets paid to play basketball.
