Lin played quite well in the first three games. He then got sick but then still got many assists. The last game everyone rested.

That's not what people say in this thread. They say Beverley earned it because he "outplayed" Lin in this preseason.

Personally, I think the "better fit" argument is much more convincing than the "outplay" argument. Lin didn't get outplayed in the preseason. Both guys played extremely well. You don't lose your starting job just because your backup plays slightly better than you in a freaking preseason.

The "outplay" argument does nothing but stirs lots of resentment. Don't blame the Lin fans on this.

You know what. This is not a Lin fan. This is supposed to be a confirmation of the starting lineup for the season opener.

But of course, Lin fans come out in droves to complain. And anti-Lin fans also come out in droves to show their ecstasy.

Every time McHale does something in the name of experimentation, I get a little worried because McHale ever only sees what he wants to see and not the actual experimental results. Consider last season after the loss to San Antonio, we ran a 15-game experiment (well, actually 14 games with one TOR game break in between) with Lin initiating the offense without staggering Lin and Harden's minutes. We rocked the universe killing playoff teams in blowouts with Harden's efficiency going through the roof. The result? The experiment was declared a failure as we stopped doing it.

Lin has consistently shown a strong preference and proficiency for the interior pass over the kickout pass. Given that, one would imagine McHale synchronizing Lin's minutes with a screening/rolling front court, but no, McHale tries to maximize Lin's minutes with a small lineup. WTF is up with that? Lin also does much better in screenplays, so they do everything they can from lineups to plays they run to minimize screens for Lin. WTF is up with that, too? Is McHale intentionally trying to set up the worst possible fit or what? I literally counted more than 4x as many screens set for the players Lin guarded than was set for Lin in the preseason.

I mean, who starts isn't the important thing. McHale can bring Harden or even Howard off the bench for all I care if that will line up the minutes right. If McHale is going to play Casspi over D-Mo, then line up Casspi-Howard or Casspi-Asik's minutes with Beverley-Harden's and Asik-Howard's with Lin. If that means bringing Asik off the bench, then so be it. Start Beverley-Harden-Parsons-Casspi-Howard, then bring Lin-Asik in as first subs. When Howard rests bring in D-Mo. Playing smallball front court with Lin is a poor fit and a complete waste. Casspi is not much of a screener/roller. If you are going to start Asik, then bring D-Mo in as first subs with Lin.

Also, I don't know what it is with you people. The Asik-Howard front court works perfectly fine. There's virtually nothing that front court cannot handle defensively. Sure, it can use some better interior passing on offense, like last year with the Asik-Smith lineup.

I think people would agree Lin was on a short leash last season, and his performance on a leg that was still healing didn't help his cause. I was wondering if you had numbers to back up what you mentioned in that first part about Lin initiating the offense and Harden's efficiency going up against good teams. Then somehow McHale declaring it a failure. Because this sounds like bait, or fuel for LOFs to keep mentioning. (I know your not trying to bait nor spew hate, I'm just asking for numbers here)

Will everybody just stop coaching and let the guys play and the coaches see what'll best help the team?

yep I expect that. what did i just say? told ya guys there is the problem of some ROX fans and it seems the culture of the organization too, that's why i stopped being dumb in this team after yao/tmac BOTH got early termination of their career due to severe injury, being outside of the house allow me see things more clear. Nop I wont get off, this is not your house and as a true basketball fan that value players personal effort and sacrifice, as long as there is no aka rox fans photo ID check i can roam around every team's board, no need your permission sir. instead i will keep telling what i see, if i get some hypocrites butt hurt, fine.

I'm still trying to understand how some folks can claim that Patrick Beverley outplayed Jeremy Lin in the pre-season. I've rewatch some of the games. And I really do not understand how these folks can come to that conclusion. My eye tests tell me that Jeremy was the SUPERIOR point guard in the post-season. The stats tell me that Jeremy did better than Beverley in scoring and assists too.

Maybe there's something wrong with my eyes or with the eyes of those claimants, LOL....

They easily arrived with the conclusion after the saw the thread title that Bev will start instead of Lin... LOL

I have asked most of them if they have watched the preseason at all... so far I got no reply...

It has nothing to do with who is better. It has to do with who is a better fit where. Beverley fits with the starters and Lin fits with the second group. Having it that way maximizes the teams chances of winning even moreso than the "Twin Towers" combo.
