Mostly everyone knows it's only one game but majority conclusion is that clippers will do fairly well in the regular season but no way will they make noise in the playoffs.

The Lakers are not going to get 76 pts from the bench again this century. But I am glad it happened against the Clips

Of course there isn't, it's not what I said.

I said if there was ever a time to overreact after one game, this is it. Opening day, against your inner city rivals, against bench players and they still lost handily.

That's just a discouraging way to start the season.

He was being guarded by Wes Johnson for a large majority of the 4th qtr. At one point he struggled to back down Jordan Farmar too.

I'm not quite ready to extrapolate this one game to the rest of the season. To start totally sleeping on the Clippers would pretty much be the same thing they did tonight re: the Lakers.

I don't think the Clippers were sleeping. They are still integrating their new players and didn't play all that well, and the Lakers played great. But any team can beat any other in this league, particularly at home, so judging anyone based on one game out of 82 is absurd.

    WOW!!!! Can't believe!!!!

Doc = overrated. He's a good motivational coach but he is not a very good x and o coach.

Our own JL7 has a better mentality than CP3 IMO.

He was thinking the Lakers were just going to submit to the Clippers without him!

    They hit 14 three pointers.

    Did their best rockets impersonation!

Oh wait the rockets jacked D'Antoni's style from the Suns.

don't agree. integrating reddick should be no trouble and the LAkers did not play that great. That Clippers team couldn't score against a Nash/Gasol/Dantoni Lakers throughout the first half. The Lakers bench isn't much better at defense and the Clippers didn't score on them either. Clippers looked awful on both sides of the ball.

What are you talking about? The CLippers shot like 60% in the first half. Their defense was what hurt them, and anytime you have to integrate two starters and a new coach it's going to take time. I knew this which is why I took the moneyline for the Lakers (even though I though the Clippers would win.. 4-1 payout was too tempting).

The Lakers got hot as **** in the 4th and really hustled well. That bench had great chemistry and ran the Clippers into the ground. But you can't really take anything from one game. If you did, we'd have to assume Rose is a scrub now.

It's opening night. Home teams have more adrenaline than usual and the fans are more into it than usual (and yes, most were Lakers fans in the arena). No biggie. Although this means the Rockets better blow out the Bobcats :p

You are right, any team can win on any given night. But it's not like this is a game in the middle of January on some random Tuesday night and the 2nd of a B2B. It's not like the Lakers don't have a bunch of new players, in fact almost all of their team is new.

I think the Clippers will be fine any ways.

First Take will be virtually unwatchable tomorrow. I expect Cari Champion to be 100x more annoying than usual.

While I certainly don't expect the Lakers to be great, or even make the playoffs, this COULD be a sign that these Lakers, without Kobe and Dwight, with Nash back in a "Nash-mode".. even if older.. with D'Antoni as coach, might actually be a better set of players than with Kobe back, or Dwight.

Well, perhaps not that far, but close.

D'Antoni can't coach those players in his system. Nash isn't ideally suite for playing the Kobe/Dwight style.

I certainly hope so. Nothing would make me happier than the Lakers suffering through 3 or 4 more years of D'Antoni mediocrity!

Certainly you're worried about your bigs rotation, right? It's really really bad.

There is no doubt that the Lakers are at their best playing this small ball running style with a long bench. It's the same style that took Dantoni far with his Suns teams, and the best way to utilize the talent. If Kobe would just buy into this, they'd actually be good when he came back, but we all know he won't, because he'll want to dominate the ball as per usual and be "the man". So expect the Lakers to surprise for a while, but once Kobe returns, time to bet on the opposition because the lines will be backwards.
