He could say, this season I expected more, this team needs to get X done or there will be major changes, this is not acceptable. There appears to be a strong pattern going back to last season of this team not being prepared to face elite competition in this league. This team has always had issues when the bright lights are on, since winning a SB is the goal and that is where the lights are brightest this has to get figured out or there will be changes.

The fans are tired of the same old thing and I am getting tired of it too. I want Kubiak and his regime here but not as much as I want to win, if they continue to fail me in that area then there will be changes.

I know this is a popular opinion around here, but I don't think it's true. It's easy to accuse him of this when the team is losing.

I think Bob wants to win just like every other owner. I think the problem is his philosophy on winning. He thinks continuity is the main ingredient to winning and uses the steelers as his model. The team that's had a total of 3 head coaches since 1969.

He doesn't understand that the steelers are a very unique situation and not the norm.

And who exactly is going to say that to the media. Nobody is really that forthcoming. Although you are spot on, nobody is saying that publicly.

Schaub with that contract has negative trade value. Teams know they can just get him in the offseason when the Texans cut him. Basically the Carr situation all over again.

He was calling plays in KC...didn't stop Keenum from throwing more 20+ yd pass plays in that game alone then Schaub did in all of his games this season combined.

Schaub was limiting the entire offense...playcalling included.

No owner is EVER going to say that in the middle of the season. There is no benefit to it to anyone and it's horrible leadership to publicly throw your employees under the bus for no reason whatsoever. If that's your expectation, good luck finding an owner that makes you happy.

Who would trade for Schaub given his contract? He has negative trade value at this point. Any team that sucks doesn't want him because they want to suck at this point. Any team that's good has no need for him. And no one wants to pay him.

I realize that, but ya gotta try. All it takes is one dumb GM.

Nobody is going to trade for Schuab now when they have a chance to sign him outright if the texans cut him next season.

McNair could have a completely empty stadium and he would still make money. The NFL has a great TV deal and McNair has a great deal with the city of houston. It pisses me of that essentially the tax payers of Houston are subsidizing a billionaire.

I'd hate for us to be like Cleveland where coaches are getting fired every other season, but he's also got to know when to move on.

This is why I have absolutely HATED the discourse in this city surrounding Schaub. Reading all those interviews and from all other evidence I can find, his teammates respect the hell out of him and he appears to be a very nice guy. Burning (for all intents and purposes) an effigy, calling him stupid, disparaging various other things about his "character." I thought we were better than that as a fan base. Should've known better after the VY situation.

On the other hand, I'm excited to watch Case Keenum play at home. I think he should've been the starter for the St. Louis game, but Kubes had to dance with the date he brought, I guess.

    Go Texans... always.

If you find a coach that, by and large, is consistently successful - I think it makes complete sense to invest in the guy long-term. But continuity, in the absence of sustained success, makes no sense. Kubiak doesn't have the track record of Noll, Cowher or even Tomlin. I can't honestly say he's worth the valleys - not when the valleys are more common than the summits. This year should be playoffs or else.

(BTW, while possibly executed poorly, I will say I like McNair’s more patient approach much better than, say, McClane’s indulging every single whim and firing managers wily-nily. McNair never would have fired Phil Garner, as one example.)

I think about this too. I identify with Schaub a little bit because we are both fathers of twins. I'm sure he's a good father and a good person and that's ultimately more important than being a good football player. I feel bad for what he's gone through this year.

    BUT.....

Another part of me says it just comes with the territory when you're a FILTHY RICH NFL QB. How bad should we really feel for him when he makes more money per game than most of us make in a year? I gotta tell ya.......it's not easy to feel sorry for him as I'm dutifully paying my mortgage every month.

Matt is a big boy. He can take it.

Im sure matt is nice guy too and im sure he has done his best but the fact is his best wasnt good enough. The person to blame for all the heat schaub took was Kubiak who week after week insisted on running his butt back out there.

I want to believe that but in typical Kubiak fashion at the end of the game his inability to adjust to defenses put case in the crosshairs of all out blitzes and nothing to counter it. Until he lets qbs audible out of some of his plays we will always be predictable as hell.

Case Keenum will illegally call audibles this Sunday. And Kubiak will be so impressed...

I want Case to play well but I don't want him to save Kubiak's job. We will never be a championship threat as long as Conserviak is calling the shots.
