I would give him best player props from 05-07. That's it though.

he also doesn't accept that his hero hakeem always wanted to play with clyde.

let me see, the best center with the second best shooting guard? hmmm, would that be stacking?

It is one of the things I find intriguing about this season - when will Kobe return, and how will he play in that first game back and going forward? Not because I like the guy - I DON'T. But, I'm still curious on how he will play. I suspect he can be 80% of what he was before since it IS Kobe. However, I'm not so sure his body can sustain that level of play without another significant injury.

Remember, he needs to be able to go into beast mode and take over a game offensively and defensively so that LA even has a chance. I'm doubtful that he will be able to do this post-injury. He needs to have a better team around him and well, I don't see that happening.

Clyde was on the downside of his career. So was Barkley and Pippen. Miami is the first team to have premeditated stacking in each player's prime when each player is arguably a top 2 at their respective position.

It's too early for this. We have to wait to see him play.

I semi agree with you. He's great, but his teammates don't get near the amount of credit they deserve. Let's remember, they were one bad call from making it to the Finals or the Semi Finals without him

Oh and no I don't think Kobe's career is over. Modern medicine and all that good stuff makes me think he's gonna be fine.

    1) Wade isn't in his prime. Have you watched him limp around over the last 3 seasons?

    2) Wade may have been top 2 at his position, but he still wasn't as good as some of the 2nd options on other teams (ie Westbrook in OKC, Howard in LA, Parker or Duncan in SA).

    3) The 83 Sixers had this type of premeditated stacking. Moses Malone chose to go join the Sixers right after they lost in the Finals. Dr. J won the MVP in 81 and finished 3rd to Moses Malone in 82. Dr. J also made the 1st All-NBA team in 82. Dr. J also finished 5th and 6th in MVP voting in 83 and 94. He wasn't a gimpy version of himself like Wade has been over the past few seasons.

    4) The 80's Lakers had this type of premeditated stacking. Magic Johnson only left school early because he wanted to play with Kareem, the best player in the world. That was no accident. He said he was going back to school if they didn't have the #1 pick.

    5) The 96-98 Bulls had this type of premeditated stacking. Jordan and Pippen were the best at their positions and Rodman was the best rebounder and defender at his. They had to sign off on their old Detroit rival coming to Chicago.

    6) The Bad Boys had this type of premeditated stacking. Isiah Thomas convinced Detroit to trade for his childhood friend Mark Aguirre. You know who else was trying to convince their team to trade for Aguirre? His other friend, Magic Johnson, right after LA beat Aguirre and his Mavs in 7 games in the WCF's.

    7) Last years Lakers had this type of premeditated stacking. Kobe and Howard were considered the best at their positions going into last season. Kobe was just fine with LA trading for Howard. He was also fine with them trading for a rival in Nash. He was also fine with them trading for the best PG in basketball, but the trade didn't go through.

If free agents exercising their free agent rights makes something premeditated then so does guys discussing playing together and what their roles would be prior to one getting traded when the trade won't happen without the current stars approval. You guys just want to pick and choose what version of teaming up you will accept based on whether or not you like a guy. Nothing has changed. The Heat aren't even one of the 5 most talented teams you have seen play, so I don't see the big deal. The 86 Celtics had 5 FOF players, 4 aged 32 and under, and guys are crying about LeBron playing with a gimpy Wade and Chris Bosh. And they had the #2 pick after winning the title that season!

I think Kobe this year (when he returns) will be like the Jordan in his years in Washington. He will still be a low 20 PPG scorer, but will no longer be a dominant force on the court and will replay mainly on his jumpers and post-up games.

Kobe's career obviously isn't over just yet, but he already won his last championship. He won't be the same player when he comes back, and let's face it, his defense has already sucked for awhile.

If I were Kobe I would retire with dignity in a Lakers uniform at the end of this season. He's got $30 million more to bank plus all his future endorsements, surely he doesn't need to keep getting them checks.

But I have the feeling we'll see Kobe playing for a couple more years somewhere else, and probably not in a Lakers uniform. Maybe he'll team up with Dirk in Dallas.
