Yeah, the guy who refused to give in when EVERYBODY was telling him that he wasn't NBA material lacks self-belief and swagger.

Maybe this opportunity will show him that he can consistently run a team and he could be possibly start elsewhere (probably on a terrible team tbh lol)

The Rockets are in win-now mode, so they're not going to overplay Harden this regular season. There will be plenty of overlap if Lin does become the 6th man, and I wouldn't be surprised if one of the reasons this move might be made is to save Harden for the playoffs.

    This.

Lin's fans really under appreciate what a tough guy he is. Persistent, dogged determination to succeed are Lin's best traits.

Who cares as long as we win the championship, I'm tired of talking about the last title in 95 and hanging out with Vernon, Kenny, Clyde, Mario etc during the back to back years.

I only ask that Jlin develop a left hand and stop picking up the rock when he gets into the paint. I hope he takes the 6th man award and I hope he increases his 3 point percentage and plays well. Why, that means a title for my beloved city HTown!!

just because harden is on the floor for 40 minutes, it does not necessarily mean that he will be dominating the ball the whole time. sometimes on the floor the pace will change, players will be tired some weeks from the schedule. just because lin has limited minutes does not mean he wont take a significant role in the playing. even if harden is on the floor there will be those nights when he is not hustling as much as he usually does. 82 games is a long stretch, players will be tested this season.

although as someone brought up earlier- you cannot ignore the continuing trend in recent rocket history. our starting PG always loses the job to the 2nd PG. its a weird phenomena but it has happened time and time again.

i think that the financial incentives that lin brings will either be the biggest reason why he stays or gets dealt. anywhere that guy goes, hes gonna bring in a whole other market.

if you ever played, it takes time for your off hand to become natural in some cases at least 2-3 years of work. this summer it shows he's worked on it but is still a year away from being fully comfortable using his left as well as right.

It's an awesome JLin doesn't have a victim mentality like many here. He will excel and probably produce even better number than last year as a 6th man.

luckily, we have lin not lowry this time.

lin did say who doesn't want to start. everyone wants to start for sure, including lin. it means lin is not ok with 6th man role but he has no choice coz McHale or whole coach staff made the decision.

not really considered a sixth man if you're only gonna get 20 min a night.

A 6th man playing the 1 & 2 has arguably more responsibilities than a starter. You are IT on the 2nd unit. In many way, I'm thinking McHale is probably MORE concern about having that kind of responsibilities and pressure on JLin than rather or not he starts. (so in all likely-hood, JLin is probably going to be a 6th-man-lite, at least until he's a bit more proven :))

I hope Harden's minutes go down this season instead of up. I don't think we want to run ragged our most valuable asset. He did 38 last season trying to make the playoffs. This season, making the playoffs should be a foregone conclusion. There is still seeding to consider, but there's no reason at all for Harden to average 40 minutes, take the added wear and tear and increased risk of injury over a spot or two in the seeding. I'd much prefer he dial it back a couple of minutes to something more like 35 (really, I want less than that, but that's not likely).

And, using Lin as a 6th man should help accomplish that. If you can count on Lin to pick up playmaking when Harden sits and to be fresh and energetic when he does it, that gives you the luxury of giving Harden added rest. That will make Harden stronger in 4th quarters, and healthier for the playoffs.

Its very clear what Nash thought of Lin. In a video with Lin during the summer, he told Lin "You've changed, Bro!".

Cool thanks. I can see Lin playing at least 30mins around there...not sure if more. I can see him scoring 12-14pts as a 6th, maybe not as a starter, but I think ti really depends on who is heating up. Parsons was supposed to not score as much but in a recent game he had a decent line, just because he was open and making drives when the opportunity was right.

VERY INTERESTING YEAR. Our team is pretty deadly lol, so much 3 pt shooting and ability to penetrate on offense and we have DH for defense as well.

I proclaim this now and everyone can book it.

Beverley as the starter will work at first. Then Dwights going to start seeing constant double teams because defenders will leave Bev for the 3 point shot even if he shoots 40% from 3pt range. I give it 15 games before anonymous sources from Dwight's camp start popping off their grumbling campaign about having to play 4-on-5 on the offensive end. McHale will start alternating Lin and Bev as the starters again at that point, leading to a cluster***** at PG for the remainder of the season (I blame this on the fact that McHale is like a frigging woman who can't make an effing decision and stick with it). Morey's only solution will be to trade Asik for Ryan Anderson so that at least Howard wont have to worry about the PF constantly butthugging him as well.

Lin and/or Asik will not be gone by the end of the season. It would take a cataclysmic event such as "this isn't working" type thing to ship them off.

I can almost guarantee they won't be gone. Earliest would be on draft day.
