    This is McHale we're talking about. Of course he is gonna bench Lin.

    no confirmation... Lin was just asked how he felt coming off the bench last game...

    Mchale didn't even confirm the starting 5 in tomorrow's game yet...

    IF Mchale did put Lin as the 6th man that doesn't mean PBat is better. You can ask James Harden and Manu Ginoboli about being a 6th man. I just want to know....

    Has this actually been confirmed???

    Man, I thought last year was unbearable... Season hasn't even started and the Lin fan bball experts are already out in full force.

    I am convinced The Rockets could have a 98-0 perfect season and if Lin were to only average 20 minutes there would be tons of "Rockets fans" here with a big problem with it.

    Looking forward to another season of "McFail" and Harden hate, at least it will be good for some laughs.

    well, i wouldn't say that, exactly. he does get a little wild at times, so hopefully this experience will help him learn when to go 100mph, and when to slow down a bit.

    Harden, Ginobli, Terry, Smith... they all played significant minutes, played in the 4th quarter and finished games. As seen last season, McHale doesn't like to play Lin in the 4th.

    As long as:

    i) Lin gets around 30 minutes a game;

    ii) He finishes the majority of the games;

    iii) He is the primary offensive creator when Harden is out of the game;

    iv) He gets free reign to lead the team when Harden is out of the game; and

    v) He and Harden share the playmaking when both are playing together;

    then I say go ahead and make him the 6th man / backup point guard / reserve player / whatever.

    It is clear as hell that he is only being pushed out of the starting lineup because Beverley is an incompetent offensive creator, playmaker and distributor. It is also clear as hell that while a starting backcourt of James Harden and Jeremy Lin that is firing on all cylinders would be competing for the title of "Best Backcourt in the League", a starting backcourt of James Harden and Patrick Beverley is only going to compete for the title of "Best Point Guard in the League". But whatever.... Jeremy Lin just needs to make sure he plays well (if not damn well) whenever he is on court. Full stop.

    I can understand not formally submitting the lineup until you absolutely have to, but he implied that he might be changing his mind right up until the deadline. I hope that I'm reading it the wrong way and that's not the case.

    Ok, we'll get your terms out to Morey and McHale. Is this the official LOF's United treaty agreement? Have all your party members agreed to this?

    Problem with Mchale's rotation is backup pgs almost always starts the 4th quarter... if the game is really close a lot of times the starting pg does not get to sub in... subbing while the game is very close always shifts the momentum to the opponent...

    imo, if lin becomes the 6th man, most probably he will start the 4th quarter and finish most games this season...

    McHale has lied to Lin twice... according to your assumptions, not any actual facts.

    Be careful with the word always, because I know that it is not "always". Nevertheless, Harden was mostly "off-ball" while Jeremy ran the point last year. Who still dominated the ball? Just because Beverley runs the point does not mean he will be the one breaking down the defense. Beverley will still get touches obviously, but expect Jeremy to be the one dissecting the D when Harden is not in the game. It would be foolish of Mchale to not play to Jeremy's pnr strength and slashing excellence in the context of a Lin Beverley back court.

    I'm sure Morey and McHale do not care about my terms anymore then they (and I) care about your terms and whatever imaginary LOH type party you can conjure out of your head. Might even be a party of one too, for all we know.

    I'm with you. It's just not necessary to hold on to this information when it's already been confirmed by both Lin and Beverley that they will indeed take on different roles this year. And I might just be annoyed if McHale does indeed change the lineup again when it seems like it's already set that Bev will start and Lin come off the bench. If we want to get to 60 wins, at least get the rotations semi-settled and let the different units/lineups start jelling now.

    And not only that, but be fair to your players too, why would you want to put Lin and Bev in a position of having to keep answering this question in almost every interview. Like him or hate him, I give Lin a lot of props for being really classy in his response, it could not have been comfortable. Lastly, it's nice to see that these two are really good friends and supportive of each others' role in the team's success.

    Still waiting for jocar's photoshopped gif of Lin's move to backup.
