Seriously? I can't stand how much this board overrates our scrubs. Look at Farieds stats and his contract. Denver isnt shopping him because he's only worth a mid first rounder. They are seeing how much value they can get in return for him cuz they know he's a very attractive asset for other gms. Love the fact that some guys claim Faried hit his ceiling but jones has potential. Maybe Houston wouldn't include bev and a pick along with asik, even though I would think they would cuz they would fill a massive hole at PF along with slightly making up the loss of asik with mozgov and bev with miller; but either way Denver wouldn't give him up of they weren't included.
http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports....d-starting-hickson-over-faried-opening-night/ Brain Shaw benches the Human Manimal.
They wouldn't even trade Asik straight up for Faried. Denver won't get much for him at all, not because he's bad at what he does, he's very good at it, it's just his skill set isn't in demand. The nba is about getting one of two things, stars or skills. Stars get to play the game their way, every one else is about complimentary skills to plug in around them. Because of the rules and the number of good to excellent guards right now, Very few nba teams sets themselves up to play like that, and the ones that do are trying to lose or already have better players filling that role (Bucks, Detroit, etc). Heck that's why Hickson looks like he's going to replace him, his skill set doesn't even suit his own team.
Good move by Shaw. I'm not in love with Hickson, but I'm not a huge supporter of 6'8" PFs who can do nothing but rebound and dunk being a starter on a playoff team. Faried would be a great guy to come off the bench, but he'll probably get paid too much to be a bench player. Were he to develop a mid-range jumper, that would change everything. But I don't see that happening.
I know what his contract is FYI. And for now, it's a bargain. But I think he'll get paid too much once he gets out of his rookie contract. I don't see him as a long term solution, and there's no way we can get him for a bargain (Jones + Smith). Someone will overpay for him, and I know that won't be us.
DO NOT WANT. I watch a lot of Denver bball because I am from there, and Kenneth is so, so overrated. He is a hustler, but so is Patrick Beverly, even though they play different positions. Offensively, Kenneth is limited to within 2 feet of the rim and is ineffective overall. Defensively, he can rebound, change shots and clean up the mess. He reminds me of a slightly less talented version of Stromile Swift. At least Stro could score a little bit in the post. Plus, over the last 2 years, Kenneth's ego has blown up. With the coverage related to his mother, he thinks his sh## don't stink and that he's on the same level with the elite PFs in the league. I wouldn't give up more than one of our Rooks and DMo for him. Though, I would prefer that the Rockets stay far, far away from a PF that cannot shoot to save his life. We really need Luis Scola back, or if dreams came true, David West. None of those will happen. At this point, I would take Drew Gooden over Kenneth. He's a free agent and can score well in the post. He's really underrated and can give to 10 and 10 on the offensive side.
I don't know. DH12 basically said recently that he can play that Bill Russell-type role: "D", boards, outlet pass. And run the floor and finish. Of course I'm just paraphrasing. Somebody here said, "Faried's one skill is rebounding and we have plenty of that" etc etc. I'd bet McHale would disagree. You can never have enough rebounding. YOU have the ball, they don't. Very helpful. Still, even if an upgrade at the 4, anyone we get of his caliber would cost us Asik (in this case, to a third team, I'm sure) and Faried, while a hustler, probably isn't the haul that Morey wants in a trade. More of a 4/5. Now, if someone can shake loose a Greg Monroe, a LaMarcus Aldridge, etc., then please do so.
Now that's a name that did not come up in years. Gooden was in conversation with Al Harrington the year we got Stromile Swift. What an coincidence.
