This is last World Series you'll ever have to be subjected to McCarver's totally sweet analysis.

It was really ridiculous that he wanted the Red Sox to concede the stolen base even though it would take away the DP possibility (prior to Beltran's at bat).

I am SHOCKED that the game last night beat out Sunday Night Football in TV ratings.

Houston ratings were 10.0 for Packers-Vikings and 7.0 for World Series. World Series led 10.5-9.9 nationally. I was wrong that SNF would win
— David Barron (@dfbarron) October 28, 2013

Me too... But I have a feeling that Fox's promos and lead-ins from the afternoon game may have had something to do with it.

    Nonetheless, good for baseball.

OR, Ortiz for all 7 games batting 0.800 or so. :p It's crazy what he's doing.

That, and I see a totally different approach at the plate by AL teams when they go up against elite NL pitching, vs. the other way around.

Tonight, they've been super-aggressive against Wainwright... swinging at anything/everything in the strike zone regardless of the count.

There's very little taking of pitches right down the middle on 2-0 counts, or automatically taking first-pitch strikes just to get the pitcher to throw more pitches...

Works well to their advantage against a pitcher who usually throws a ton of strikes, and has relatively good control... but as McCarver says, "Control is not just about throwing strikes... its about being able to throw a ball out of the zone when you want to".

It's amazing to me that Ortiz gets absolutely no heat for steroids.

Why? I am surprised the NFL got those ratings with a bad vikings team.

Because it's the NFL. They dominate everything. They're beyond being America's favorite sport...they're America's favorite entertainment. They blow out prime time programming repeatedly. At the end of the year they'll represent about 50% of the top 10 most watched shows for the entire year. Hollywood will spend millions trying to cast prime time programming to beat them...they'll advertise 2 Broke Girls and Pizza Place with Friends at Al's Diner over and over and over again....and America will still tune into football instead.

Am I the only one that hates the Red Sox ph&&&ot beards? I want to root for the city, but their fans and beards are making it impossible.

Buck - "Holiday can make it a 2 run game (with a homer)."

McCarver - "If he does (homer), make him hit it out to right, not left."

Because it apparently matters where the home run goes.
