If Lin can play around 30 minutes as the primary ballhandler, it will be Linsanity 2.0 even coming of the bench. I think this maximizes Harden's talent also. As long as both are given leeway to manage the offense, Rockets will have the best offense in NBA. 48 minutes of defense + 48 minutes of offense. Who would not want it?

I would bet anything the last minute lineup will be:

    Howard
    Parsons
    Harden
    Lin
    Beverley

I just don't understand how just because harden is our best player that a iso offense is best. First it was melo then it was harden. trade the guy to a real team ball franchise where he can have the ball in his hands and run the offense. He's too good of a passer and finisher to get only get 10 minutes of true freedom.

Let's wait and see how Beverley are doing as the starting PG regularly. I really hope people will not be calling his head when he has a bad game.

Doesn't matter whether Lin starts or comes of the bench. People are going to blame him anyways if things don't go well.

Agreed. It would also be best for the team if we had an explosive scorer off the bench. Another thing that would be best for the team is if we had a guy who is elite at playing pressure defensive against opposing starting PGs.

The thing is, there's a lot of things that would be "best" for the team, but we can't have it all.

Why can't Lin learn to play off the ball?

Playing off the ball is a skill and can't be "learned" that easily. Otherwise if Harden could just "learn" how to play off the ball we would basically have Kevin Durant.

Finally, a sensible post. Who the hell wants the scrub of the year award? The perception is that Lin is not good enough to start and that perception will become reality. To anybody outside of Houston, Lin is now officially a scrub, demoted to the bench. Came in expecting to have his own team to riding the pine. Leaving Houston so he doesn't have to play with harden will be good for his career.

We could but it seems harden can't make any sacrifices for the team. If we want to win a championship every player on this team is going to have to sacrifice part of their game. Asik, chandler. lin, harden, everyone.

What if the alternative is playing for a team that never sniffs the playoffs?

Being a 6th man on a championship contending team is much better than being the best player on a horrible team.

Lin can change that perception by simply not playing like a scrub. Do you think people call Crawford and Smith scrubs? If they do then they don't watch enough NBA ball...

Clearly you haven't watched any preseason game...

some people specially LOFs are being over dramatic, and overly analyzing this...

Lin being the 6th man will clearly allow him to close more games than last year, if you saw how mchale rotates the players last season you will know...

4th quarter the back pg always starts (almost 90% of the time)... lin only subs in at around 5-6 min mark, most of the time, he is already cold or lin doesn't get subbed in specially during close games! now if lin is the 6th man, he will almost always start the 4th quarter, he will only get subbed out if tired, or blowout games...

and Mchale always loves to go small on the 4th quarter... so it will always be Lin, Bev, Harden, Parsons and Dwight....

I expect Lin to have 30 mins of action every night...

Linsanity had a higher usage rate than Chris Paul. Lin's style of play makes the Rockets coaches whine about "sticky ball".

Why does Lin have a following?

I don't get it. He's never been that good.

Off-court charity and genuine class act. Haters don't understand because they think it's just about his game.
