OK, you're a bit slow in this thread. LOF's jumped on the "Asik is pouting" claim to support their "Jeremy will pout" claim. They are men, professionals. Quit obsessing on your imagination of what their feelings are.

If Bev starting proves the offense is stagnant or Harden too exhausted, coach should switch back to Lin starting like last year. Also, if after ASB, if Harden proves he is fading and tired for too much work load like last season, McHale can always insert Lin back in as starting pg to initiate the offense. Do what is best for the team. Only the coach will be able to make that decision. After all, if the team tanks even after adding Howard because of the coach's wrong coaching, his head will roll faster than any one on the team. So he is ultimately responsible for the consequence of his coaching strategy. If using Lin a certain way can win more games and save his job, he will do so in a second.

Now, Lin has to learn a completely new role and have people talk chit about him when he struggles. Sigh~ I hope everything works out well for him as well. Either way, I think the Rockets are going to be alright though I think our offense will stagnate a bit with more isos and less uptempo and Jeremy will struggle to learn coming off the bench as a sixth man.

Some people think I'm a dick for doing this, but I wanna just save time and ask you to put me on your "ignore" list, and I am now putting you on my "ignore" list, just to make the board more enjoyable for both of us. So I won't be reading your snappy comeback, but I grant it will be devastating. With that, I bid thee farewell.

$8.3 million is too large a cap hit for a 6th man. Lin's probably gone, if not this season then sometime during this coming off season.

There is a glut of quality pg's in the nba at this point. The market for a reserve pg being paid $20 million over 2 seasons is modest to non-existent.

This is incredible. If indeed Jeremy is the 6th man, our team just has so many added dimensions it is crazy.

i made a thread saying Lin should be our 6th man and was ripped on...lol

looks like I was right, and I'm sure Lin will end the games possibly with Bev also and play similar minutes anyways

The problem is simple. There are not enough shots to go round the starting lineup. And people agitate to get a PF that shoots more. SMH.

I'll be happy to rip on you some more since lin is not the '6th man.' He's a reserve guard, nothing more, nothing less.

Lin is tough to move. $20 mil remaining for a 20-25 min. reserve.

The rockets are showcasing asik properly for a trade, but not lin.

I get that some of Lin's fans may want to apply all kinds of aspirational labels to him. Since his breakout performance in New York, I've heard MVP, Superstar, All-Star, Team Leader, and now 6th Man of the Year candidate.

While some people express the opinion that Lin may never be any of these, I certainly don't think that makes me or them haters.

I'm looking forward to an amazing season from the Rockets. Go team!

If he doesn't start, there will be nothing wrong with that. If anything that sets him to be the main guy off the bench with the ball more often in his hands. And now he can drive to the basket without him worrying about passing to Howard or Harden. The one thing I didn't like last year that he always seemed to do was pass more often then shooting. He needs to get back into going straight in and driving to the basket. He has always been really good at finishing and or getting the foul. You could even incorporate Brooks with Lin. I'm really starting to like this team a lot. Still has a way to go from being the 08-09 team but really liking this team.

That's just poor PR skill. I don't think he meant to troll.

On this team, with this coaching staff, the odds continue to decrease.

Then again, mchale's situation is tenuous also. He has an amazing amount of talent, and does not seem to have a clear idea of how to utilize it, except through trial and error and/or through sheer guesswork.

This team is greatly upgraded compared to last year's, but there are lots of serious problems which will take a significant amount of time to resolve.

    1. the most glaring of which is the lack of a quality 4.

    2. mchale's inability to integrate lin and harden

    3. omer's unhappiness with the dwight signing

    4. howard's ongoing difficulties in establishing a post game.

This team is going to bulldoze through most of the opposition on the basis of sheer talent. The real test comes when facing teams which have exceptional talent AND exceptional coaching.
