Lin did a much better job to guard spot-up,
even Bev. Iso and PNR handler D are sightly better than him.

the best way to do this is to dominate the opponent not only offensively but defensively as well. offense is not a problem with harden, howard, and parsons starting. but let pbev together with howard and asik set the defensive tone. shutdown the opponents as much as possible.

this way the sooner harden and the other starters can rest. and with lin leading the 2nd unit and keeping the opponent at bay, the more rest harden and other starters can have.

keeping this strategy and mindset going into games will not only make things easier for harden and howard but for everyone else in the team. get a quick jump on the opponents and let them play catch up the rest of the way. not all games will go as planned but if majority does then it will be a good season.

this is nba. blowing away a team is not easy. most nights, you will see around 10 or less pts games. to rest starters, you have to have at least 20 or more pts difference in a game.

If that is the case, it seems odd that the split would be lopsided in favor of Lin. It's safe to say that Rockets fans would represent "the other only Fans," including Harden, Beverley, Howard, and Parsons. This poll doesn't include an option for those who do not care who starts. Their impact is either considered negligible or they're being forced to take a side. The only conclusion from this poll so far is that:

    a) most CFans believe Lin should start despite the pontificating few who repeatedly post the same recurring themes being presented by the media

    b) most CFans - with the exception of the usual suspects - are Lin fans in some capacity

This poll is hardly comprehensive and will do absolutely nothing to settle the debate which is sure to continue well past the trade deadline.

Beverley will get his chances to start as McHale has stated in not so specific terms. Patrick's defensive tenacity will be showcased against teams with prolific scorers at the PG position. I don't see Beverley starting against certain marquee match-ups, like the Knicks, Lakers, Bulls or the Heat. The Lin fans should take comfort and those who point out Beverley's 'better fit' is due to his defense should take note - with the exception of the Bulls, these teams are weak at the point guard position.

Bev can sustain iirc the coaches were saying he by far the fittest guy on the team...

Patrick Beverley imo is improving at a faster rate than Lin.

Your method is always 100% correct Coach. Now why aren't you a NBA Coach yet?

Not exactly the best argument to use in this scenario don't you think?

i'm not talking about always blowing out opponents resting the starters for the night..

i'm talking about if we get an 8 pt margin halfway thru the first quarter.. we can put lin and dmo in and have harden n howard rest early

I doubt McHale will play harden less in the case you mentioned. harden will play at least 34 min unless a blowout.

Hey yall the experts that know it all. So you gets no more arguments from me. You two knows whats best for the Rockets, how their rotation should be set up, how the offensive sets should be ran and etc etc etc.

Now if Lin starts will you two come on here and admit that you'll were wrong? LOL:grin:

    haha you are funny.

Again you are inciting people when this is a message board about game action and roster moves. in a thread about starting pg. The 'you dont know anything this is a message board' argument is always valid ,but a little on the weak side when the thread is about it.

If he was talking about moreys favorite dish or spine surgery then your argument might make a little more sense too. Also you are not saying anything really and offering no opinion. Tell us who should start and why? this is a basketball bbs.

we can all agree that the goal is for the starting unit to dominate offensively and defensively to build a good lead and for the 2nd unit to have enough mix of offense and defense to keep the lead. thats not what happens every game but i'm pretty sure thats what all teams strive for.

that's the main goal of the coaches in determining who should start and who should lead the 2nd unit

not because they hate one or is propping up one

    Wrong about what?

I don't really care who starts, I just think it makes sense to have Beverley in the starting lineup and Lin as the 6th man. I also think Lin should be getting the bulk of the minutes and ending games.
