The reviews in this thread made me go out and get some for this Christmas. I have to say, I was quite underwhelmed. It was good, but nothing special really

I prefer the St. Arnold. Seems smoother and has more alcohol.

Shiner Holiday Cheer is basically a watered down version, not nearly as strong, both in spice and alcohol content. I guess the Velvet Hammer was too much for you ;)

Alas, the end of the season is here. What is left of the few kegs still being drained in this city? I shall endeavor.

Godspeed Gents....see you all next year. Verily, even those nonbelievers who speak of Shiner (SERIOUSLY?? OH EM GEEEEEEE!!)

I'm heading out to the store this week to pick up several cases which will last me till next year. At least that's the plan. I'm sure they'll be gone by February.

Email from wife: "Need Christmas Ale???"

    My response: "What?"

My wife: "They have Christmas Ale at Kroger...your son found it and said he knew you'd want it."

Let this be a lesson to you all. My wife is amazing....and my son is a prince. For both have given me a gift today that is beyond measure. They will be rewarded with crowns in Heaven.

(St. Arnold's is doing Christmas in July and released some Christmas Ale for sale yesterday)

    Here endeth the lesson.

    Sad story:

I was offered to interview for a brewer position at St. Arnold...had to turn it down due to salary limitations...:(

    Oh well. Homebrewing ftw.

OTOH, we all might not enjoy St. Arnold's as we do now had you been employed by them to actually make the beer.

So, it all worked out in the end.

    :p

    Ladies,

Christmas Ale has made its appearance. I had some last night at Cedar Creek.

WHat is the alcohol content of this one? I already tried holiday cheer, didn't like it too much.

Just picked some of the st. arnolds christmas. I'm tempering my expectations, & assuming it's not going to blow me away like their pumpkinator did. I would be in real trouble if they sold that stuff in six packs, at regular price, unlimited availability etc.

It tastes nothing like Holiday Cheer. I'm not a fan of the Sailing Santa, is that what this is? I assume so. Tastes metallic to me.

I think Sailing Santa was a mixture of Christmas Beer and IPA (Endeavor?) could be mistaken though.

    Christmas beer is very good.

You might be right... I used to know these answers but retired from the St. Arnold's Christmas stuff. Stuck with Holiday Cheer.
