Dwight's just ignorant. That's the bottom line. Unfortunately, that's just how A LOT of people are. The point is he obviously didn't say that stuff in a mean-spirited way, so we just move on and hope someone close to him tells him that stuff can be taken offensively.
You're right. Fixed. That was one of the ones I initially wasn't sure about, but thought he said "Death" after hearing it twice.
I'm cool with every other nickname he came up with, and I understand he was ****ing around. The problem is that Dwight was dense enough to mix up a Jewish-state with an Islamic-state, mixing up two ethnicities that aren't exactly friendly towards each other, which is seriously not the kind of mistake you want to turn into a running joke. I think we can all agree that jokes about race/religion or whatever are only comfortable when you know the other person shows at least the most basic awareness of what they're joking about, which Dwight doesn't show here. That's what I find disappointing.
These guys are adults. If he offended them, I'm sure they will speak up, and I'm sure he will respond appropriately.
chill out ... Dwight is just having fun with his teammates. I'm sure most of those nicknames he just thought of on the spot. The only gaffe he made was identifying Casspi as Saudi Arabian, but Omri just kept on smiling. Gracious. Did you all think Casspi hasn't encountered more racial profiling/mis-identification in the U.S. before? I'm sure he's been through much worse. Besides, DH is one of THE stars in HOU. You think the role players will hold a beef against him?
Too bad Tskitishvili is out of the league, he's only 30! BTW, seems like the "Whites" who have promising potential all go bust. First, there was the MJ 2nd fav Rodney, then there's the super-athlete high flying next MJ James, now our own next LeBron Royce. What's wrong with the "Whites"? BTWx2, Bev and Trinidad James do look alike but Patrick "the Referee" Beverley is even better IMO.
