James w/oHeroball Harden. When Harden was not making play and moving the ball, he had the tendency of dribbling the shot clock away and committed an turnover, which was quite ugly to watch last session. I think McHale most likely will play his 3 PGs at the same time with Parson and Howard to close out such game.
I think Beverly should start. I think Lin is the better scorer and better overall PG. I think Beverly's defense will provide better balance with all the scorers on the first team. I think Lin's offense and penetration will provide a perfect balance for the defenders and set up the shooters on the second team. Just because he doesn't start doesn't mean he isn't the better player. Ginobili comes off the bench for the Spurs. Clearly their best player at that position. No point in wasting a scorer's minutes by putting him on the floor with other scorers. You waste Lin's minutes having him stand on the perimeter passing the ball to Harden and Howard, then bring Beverly in with Garcia and DMo and Casspi... then what? Who is going to initiate the offense? Who is going to create shots? If you are a LoF this should be a no brainer. No bigs clogging the lane on the second unit and your guy gets to do what he does. Sportscenter highlights and all of Lin's dribble drive and scoop layups. Linsanity all over again. Plus it helps the Rockets win. That's what we all want right?
yeah no ones saying Jeremy can't play along side harden and howard.. only Pbev is the better fit with the starters. give us the best chance to get a jump on the other team. perfect balanced mix of offense + defense, rim + 3 points, avoiding own turnovers + forcing turnovers, rim protection + ball pressure
I was leaning towards Lin as the default choice. Ideally, we would switch it up based on matchups, but that could mess with players rhythm and chemistry if we're constantly changing the starting lineup.
opposing PG's would rather have Lin defend them instead of Bev (see Jrue) opposing big men would rather have Lin pester them instead of Bev (see MGasol) opposing defenses would rather have the ball with Lin instead of Harden and they would rather see Lin shooting a three instead of Bev
Neither of them are 1/3 of Steph Curry and neither are going to "match Steph Curry for 28 points." You being bitter at me isn't going to change that. Lin scored more than 24 points 3 times out of 82 games last season. That's a 3% chance. Probably even less now with Dwight here. Be realistic.
This I agree with. Whoever McHale picks he needs to stick with. Can't be constantly changing line ups and screwing up chemistry. Consistency is key.
That may be so, but Beverley's only 2/3rds the player that Lin is. So Lin has a better chance of matching Steph Curry. Not bitter at you. Just amused and entertained. Patrick Beverley scored more than 15 points 0 times out of 41 games last season. That's a 0% chance. Double confirmed now with Dwight here. Be realistic.
problem is Lin's strengths are overlapped and overshadowed by harden's Lin needs the ball in his hands and since harden proven to be more effective and efficient, he will have the ball not lin
How did you come up with that number? I could just as well say Lin's defense is 56.29934% of Beverley's defense, therefore Beverley has a better chance of slowing down Curry.
Eye test. Actual performance. And the fact that one can lead the second unit and play better with the ball in his hand than the other. Feel free to. Beverley's offense is probably 32.59134% of Lin's offense so in the bigger scheme of things Lin will still match Curry better.
Be realistic about what? I didn't make any statements about Beverley at all. You brought him up as some sort of attempt to get to me lol. All I said was expecting Lin to match Steph Curry for 28 points isn't even remotely a realistic possibility when he scored more than 24 points only 3% of games last season. He'll probably just put up like 13/6 & 3 and Bev would put up 11/4 & 5 with better defense.
are you saying that the offensive efficiency of PBev, Harden, DHoward, Parsons, Asik is only 32.5% of Lin, Harden, DHoward, Parsons, Asik?
How so? If Dwight Howard and Omer Asik are on the court, the team would need aggressive perimeter defense to stop Curry. Beverley is a better defender in this aspect and would cause more problems for Curry than Lin. However, on offense, the ball would go to Harden and Howard. Even if Lin is capable of a lot more on offense, Lin's duties on the offensive end would not be any different to Beverley's because he would be stuck as the 3rd/4th option on the court.
Harden will not play 48 minutes for 82 games. Remember the time when Harden and Parsons were out due to injuries, Lin became the guy who stepped up and carried the team in those 4 games? We need someone other than Harden to make play and take over the offensive end just in case. Guys can play together as a team and rise to shine at their own right in due course. Let's cheer for them while they are with us
with Parson's improvement in his shot and attacks, I would say JLin is more likely the 4th option now
