Why do people assume Brooks is safe? Potential is the biggest thing that keeps a bubble guy on the roster. If they think Canaan is good enough to be the third string PG, Brooks will be the gonna. If they have no confidence in Canaan, then they may keep Brooks just in case someone gets hurt. Camby should be cut together with William. But they might keep Camby just to be a presence in the locker room.
Because unlike you a lot of guys are not strictly in Development mode. We are far from being Philadelphia. And they did cut upside players like Royce who was a bad fit for any team. Brooks has been a fan favorite and is familiar with the system, the guys.
When will the final cuts have to be made? I´d say probably Williams and Camby, although I feel Covington (who is always said to be safe) hasn`t shown anything in a preseason game so far. Brooks will be our 3d PG on the bench, while Canaan will develope with the Vipers.
im assuming that we have to pick up the 3rd years on DMo and TJones on Monday aswell, or do we have more time?
Have you've been watching this preseason? Canaan can't shoot, pass or defend. Reason why he was available in the 2nd round.
He's making the jump from midmajor conference play to the NBA. Same with Covington. Give them a year of the NBDL, and then re-evaluate them. They've never even played in anything close to this level of competition. Once their nerves settle down, we'll see their skills start to shine.
I am going to change my vote from a previous thread on this subject. I had Brooks and Williams but I'm changing to Williams and Camby. Camby has seen his last court duty and I don't think this team needs the vet influence that bad. On the other hand if Lin goes down, as he has every year, then we need a backup other than Canaan if we are going to make a serious run.
He was out injured for quite a while. He would've needed minutes to get into game shape and to find his legs. Minutes were scarce because of depth and leg strength is important for shooters. The last 3 spots aren't important. Fill them with development players and even leave the 15th spot vacant for roster flexibility which Morey likes.
