Just saw this tonight and i agree completely with what you said. Some of the scenes I think they could've cut out but I can understand why they kept them in. But the acting was amazing no doubt
Yep. Pretty much my thoughts too. I will say Hanks performance ESPECIALLY the last 15 minutes of the movie is astoundingly good.
Yeah his scene at the very end with the paramedic was some of the finest acting I can remember. Just insane. However...my outlook on the movie has really worsened after hearing that basically the whole thing was fabricated.

Escape Plan: 6.5 out of 10 Arnold Schwartzenegger is just painful to watch on the screen. Stallone's still got some of his old self left in the tank, but you don't see much of it in this movie. 50 cent is mostly just a cameo in this movie. Jim Caviezel does his best evil prison warden impression, but he's not a villain type actor. Sam Neill's acting talent is wasted as the prison doctor with a conscience. The prison that is supposed to be impossible to escape, turns out to be quite easy to escape if you start a riot. Btw, most of what they do would not work in a real life prison escape.
No horror movies and it's October, come on guys!!!! Friday The 13th Part 3: 8/10 First appearance of the Hockey machete wielding mass murderer!!!
I watched pacific rim. Never thought I could be so drawn into a movie with giant robots without having some tanned eye candy prancing around in booty jorts. It lived up to the hype i thought and followed the underlying theme of many del toro's films..the resistance fighting the good fight against pure evil. rinko kikuchi..yummy o!
I saw "This is the end" two days ago. I give it a 6/10. I was pretty dissapointed with the movie, way overhyped. I laughed at times, but they were few and far in between. I was really looking forward to watching this movie. I like Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, Mcbride and Robinson. You would think putting them together in a movie would be hilarious but it just fell flat.
Leave- 2 out of 5 Stars. Saw this on Netflix on the weekend. It was one of those bait and switch flicks because top billing was given to Bryan Cranston and Ron Livingston and they both are in the movie for less than 5 mins. And on top of that Bryan Cranston plays a gay dude with a british accent? Huh? It's horrible. The ending and climax sucked ass and it was only intriguing after about 20 mins into the movie then went straight to hell. The movie ran about 70 mins which is also pathetic. SKIP.
Instructions Not Included (No Se Aceptan Devoluciones) The storyline is awesome, and the hidden clues here and there keep you guessing. Acting and special effects (if they could be called that) could be a bit better, and being that this is a FIRST for Derbez and company in the United States, it's shocking it's this good. SwoLy rating: World War Z A bit longer than needed, but it tells the story adequately and it keeps you on the edge of the seat. Probably not Pitt's best acting, but it is great. SwoLy rating: SwoLy's Rating System: Excellent  Good Average Could be better Bad Extremely bad
Our Idiot Brother Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Banks, Zooey Deschanel 2/10 Which is about what I expected, so I wasn't mad. Probably the most lazily put together movie I've ever seen.
Gravity- 9/10 Story is meh. Visuals, graphics, and directing are some of the best I have ever seen. Event Horizon- 7/10 Cliche at times, and late 90's special effects seem exponentially dated by todays standards, but some interesting ideas are explored. Reccommended for fans of "Prometheus". Free on Netflix. Devil- 7.5/10 "12 Angry Men", "Phonebooth" stage-type film. Can you guess which one is the devil himself?
Gravity 7/10 It was nice floating between sandra bullock's thighs for an hour. Watch if you like that, or if superfluous shots of random objects floating out at you just for visual effect make a great movie for you. Bad Grandpa 4.5/10 I laughed, but so many scenes were so poorly acted by the supposed marks who were obviously in on it the whole time, a lot of it was pretty unwatchable. Not pure or even believable prank video, & acting/writing of the interactions not good enough to stand as a scripted comedy. Too bad, I like johnny knoxville.
Olympus Has Fallen 5/10 Finally got around to watching this last night with my son. This movie... shaking my head. Ok. This is what happens when people outside this country try to make a movie about the inside of this country, when the only information they have ABOUT this country has been parsed to them by a 'news media' which has zero interest in news or objectivity. It is just plain dumb. In fact, this may be the purely dumbest movie I have seen since something totally moronic like V For Vendetta. Gerard Butler was generally good, as usual. I have never cared for Aaron Eckhart, and nothing he does in this movie changes my mind. Some of the action was pretty good, Butler can rock out a fight scene with the best of them.. (anyone else think may HE should have been on the list for the next Dark Knight? Ah well..) But generally speaking, there were so many eye-rollingly dumb moments in the movie that it becomes impossible to take it seriously - from hundreds of security people charging into automatic weapons fire for no reason, to the US military and commanders doing such stupid things that they can't be believed, to the entire premise of the 'attack' (spoilers ahead.. yawn) the notion that the military would place the entire security of our entire nuclear arsenal into the hands of three individuals, AND make it a system which cannot be contravened in case of an emergency, AND also just happen to have the unintended ability to send every silo'd nuclear missile into 'sef-destruct mode' thus blowing up hundreds of nuclear weapons right here in Amuuuurka.. seriously.. who wrote this, and who decided to spend money making it, thinking it would be a good investment? Special commendation should go to the chick playing the (I think( Secretary of State.. hands down the worst 'acting' I have seen from a person in a movie since Malin Akerman in Watchmen. Butler raises the movie as much as he can, but that's not a whole lot in this case. 5/10
