Without the Harden trade the Rockets would have been pretty bad. Who said Les demands a competing team? Would have been fun to watch tho.
He can't keep up that level of defensive intensity over the course of a regular season, with starter's minutes. And putting the ball in harden's hands even more so than last year only invites a late season tailspin where harden's fg% and overall productivity goes down the toilet. Again. It's a great short term fix; far easier for mchale than actually devising a plan to integrate two high level creators within the same offense. It's a short cut which will blow up in mchale's face.
Plus Beverley hardly gets called for a foul with the heavy pressure he puts on other players. Now that's talent.
until bev can prove in the regular season, not preseason, that he's a better fit starting at pg than lin. i know lin is chinese or japanse and that makes pple angry, but u gotta respect his starting roster spot. "omg player x is killing it in preseason" isnt a good reason to give him more minutes. patience pple, no need to jump the gun before the regular season starts.
Seriously, this schtick is so tired. Impossible that someone could simply prefer another player. Must be racist.
I think Beverly is going to get the call on opening night to start. I think he fits better with the starters. This is not a knock on Jeremy because he has improved and if he was the starter, I would not have a problem with it at all. I just think the need for a play maker and shot creator off the bench with our second group will push our team over the hill. Not many teams can have their second best play maker coming off the bench, like the Rockets could have with Lin. I think it would be a huge advantage! And I really like Beverly with Asik and Howard starting the game, because I think it can really throw a lot of teams out of their rhythm from the start like it has the last couple of games.
I'm rolling with Lin cus I like the way Lin plays the game. His playmaking is fun to watch. Not taking anything away from Bev, I like his defense, but I dont really see him playing creative offensively. With Lin I see more of a free flowing and creative offense and that's more entertaining.
I don't care who starts honestly... Lin has skills to last longer in the NBA though as far as careers wise, good playmaking skills that you just can't teach. As far as season goes, I bet Lin will be a much durable player than Bev. And have a feeling Bev's intensity and defense will drop halfway through the season due to durability, unless he learns how to play defense much smarter.
How is it that you know this for sure? And I don't understand why Bev starting automatically equates to putting the ball in hardens hands more. That's why we got Dwight and Lin will still play over half the game. Honestly you just sound like a Lin fan hoping for everything to fail so you get what you want for Lin.
You're somehow blaming Harden's injury on Beverley which makes absolutely no sense. Harden injured himself last year in February while Lin was a starter. If you want to reach and blame a point guard for being responsible for Harden's injury, Beverley is the last one you should mention. He was averaging 12 minutes a game at that point.
Hard to tell what will happen when the season starts but I don't understand why some people think Lin has a better chance of starting, let alone a lock. Seems McHale prefers Bev's early defensive pressure and better fit with Harden's ball handling. McHale will probably continue to experiment with lineups for a bit but I would be shocked if Lin started the first 5 games. All the signs from preseason point the other way.
FYI Lin is in no way some kind of elite playmaker. In fact he is a pretty average playmaker for a PG. Not that it matters much, it doesn't have a lot of baring on a championship. But don't pretend Lin is something he is not. Lin is an aggressive slasher who can get to the basket, can push a fast break, and play passing lanes. Those are his strengths. He is not an elite playmaker or defender
I agree with this statement. Lin with the starting lineup, I think the offense would run alot smoother then with Bev in any lineup. He's the better playmaker, distributor and overall scorer. Bev's man on man defense is better but in case no one's noticed. Lin aint no slouch, especially showing in the preseason so far. He's got ALOT better on D just like Bev has got better on offense. Most LOH will say Bev is starting because he "outplayed" Lin. When the real reason is that you have the HUGE option to let your "best play maker" run the 2nd unit when Harden isn't in, Bev is NOT THAT. If Lin comes off the bench and runnin with Asik and shooters around him, that's back to how he played in Ny, but here's the tricky part. Lin's been coming in as the 2 covering for Harden and sometimes will take the point. Didn't Morey say Lin was the 5th best pnr player last year? Well we all know McHale doesn't use Lin to his strengths. So how is Lin's "strength" being implicated here? It isn't, dont think so hard. I can say for close games... closing games.. Lin/Bev/Harden/Parsons/Howard should close games (free throws with Asik/Howard in crucial situations should be avoided)
N/A. Cannot vote as there should be an 'alternate them depending on opponent and/or other variables at play' option. Same could be said, theoretically, about any position. ... ... ... ...
