I usually don't eat supper until after 8pm. I do not get to snack throughout the day and I'm hungry when I get home. When I do eat I tend to over eat. I'm looking for something lite and filling to eat at night. Any suggestions?
Oatmeal in the morning... small lunch and dinner with snacks like nuts or fruit in between. Also remember that your stomach shrinks after the first week of adjusting a diet. You just have to suffer through it. Hunger is the enemy.
This. I did a routine of Oatmeal right when I woke up. Eggs and simple meat (ham or chicken) for breakfast an hr later. Light snack of fruit or nuts an hr or two later, then lunch. Light snack of fruit or nuts 3 hrs later, then dinner 2-3 hrs later. Light snack 3 hrs later (yes...around 9:00)...could also be protein shake if you worked out right before Portion control is everything. I bought a rectangular tupperware container that gave me all I needed for lunch and dinner, which contained veg, complex carb (brwn rice, quinoa or sweet potato, and home prepared meat (pork, chicken, beef). You'll be hungry early on while you work out moderately, but your metabolism will stay constant and 3 weeks later, the fat will melt like crazy. Also look into L-Carnatine, L-Glutamine, L-Glucine Once your body catches on that you're eating healthy and regularly, you can add on the food and work out better. It's a great solid plan even if it deviates from the convenient bachelor life of takeout and fast food. As for what a light snack is, fine tune it so that you're not hungry and not full. So it could be a bowl of berries/fruits or a handful of 12-13 almonds.
Get some protein bars... the Zone Perfect brand (can be found at any supermarket) taste awesome, much better than other protein bars I've had. Especially Fudge Graham and Cinnamon Roll flavors. Each bar is 210 calories. Another snack I use to hold me over is 3 egg whites w/3 slices of ham. Only about 150 calories total. Protein keeps you full longer than carbs.
Pounding water before (and while) you eat helps curb your appetite. It's also a good idea to mix stuff like raw celery and cucumbers, foods that have vitamins and high water content with very few calories. As long as you mix in some lean protein and fiber, you shouldn't find yourself feeling hungry again an hour later.
Your problem is that your starving your self all day. Im guessing you dont want to eat because of weight problems right? Or maybe you dont feel too good after your dinner? You want a faster metabolism, you want to be able to eat as much food as you need to get all of your minerals and vitamins. Diets and starving your self are harmful and inefficient, you want to be eating multiple snacks through out your whole day and avoide eating big servings, especially before going to bed at night. If your going to have a big meal make it your breakfest. Most important make sure your eating healthy, try to eat more raw foods or even try making vegi and fruit smoothies or juices so that you can get all your nutrition. Also make sure your drinking plenty of water (8 cups per day) and get plenty of exersize. If you can't change your eating habbits or whatever then i'd recomend a big salad. You cant feel bad or gain wait eating salads really.
Are you trying to lose weight? What kind of job do you have? It is relevant as to what you should eat. If you are trying to lose weight, avoid oatmeal... If your weight is fine and you have a physically demanding job, then oatmeal is a good option. Try to avoid highly processed food.
I'll go against some people here I say skip breakfast. Eating early in the day always makes me hungry early and often. Recent studies also show breakfast isn't nearly as important as many claim
I believe in a primal diet. I usually attempt to eat eggs in the morning and avoid processed carbohydrates. Green shakes are fine but remember there is more sugar and carbs than you think. I usually use vegetable/fruit smoothies as a supplement. For most people I have noticed cutting carbs and processed food helps a whole lot. I only worry about portion control later once the carbs are controlled. The research shows that the cholesterol from meat/fat argument is bunk. However, there is only one for sure way to increase your lifespan and that is limit overall food consumption. I personally have cut 90% of processed foods from my diet and cut carbohydrate consumption 75%. I eat lots of grass fed or wild caught meat, organic fruits and vegetables and dairy. I right now have a 33 inch waist and am 6'6 or so with a weight of about 225 lbs.... On a normal American diet I was about 265 lbs and a 40 inch waist.
Well there's your problem. You have to do like me & work a high protein snack into your routine, like my "21 wing salute" appetizer. THey're small, but 21 wings can be surprisingly filling.
Agree with most of your post except this part. A lot of fat people think like this, then proceed to load up a salad with shredded cheese, croutons and 8 heaping tablespoons of dressing. All of which add up to be even worse than what they would have normally ate.
Are you of the intermittent fasting clan, just curious? While I am not a big breakfast guy, I have to say breakfast makes sense to me. Put some food in your body to have you run all day is better than loading up with food at night before you go to bed.
Have you ever read "Eat to Live", by Joel Fuhrman? Would be very curious to hear if it changes your views at all after reading.
Do you have a fridge where you work? I am making the assumption you may being trying to lose weight, but even if you are not a good idea is deli turkey. It is pretty cheap, very low fat, and low cal. Eat a half pound of sliced turkey and it is about 300 cals...lots of protein
Lol well yeah i guess i should of said a healthy salad. I usually have kale salads, with chopped up raw and organic carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes, nuts and berrys. Then drizzled with (not drowned) some organic dressings.
