Would both of you quit being so negative a (re)read my original post?

    1) I am not a hipster, neither are my friends that participate in CM. But that's not the point. Just because I shop at Macy's and all the hats I wear are caps (and not jaunty, vintage fedoras), doesn't make me better or worse than those you call "hipsters."

    2) I never said I was a CM rider. I will not be policing anyone because I have never participated in CM.

    3) What I'm trying to do now is positive... the point of my post was to ask for a little civility in the discourse that this thread created. I wasn't even defending the CM event itself, just stating that the people I know that ride in it are some of my favorite people in the world.

If you don't like something, that's cool. What isn't cool is immediately taking a giant, verbal dump on EVERYONE that's ever participated in it. It's your right to dislike anything, but dragging real people that you've never met into it and calling them ALL dirty hippies and douchebags is uncalled for.

Let's leave the untoward name calling and petty spats to the D&D participants. I love this little corner of the internet but the toxicity is getting to me lately.

What's negative about telling you to police their own? To be certain, if you don't do it someone else will. That someone else may be a frustrated motorist in a bad mood that runs people down or that someone else will be HPD.

It's hipsters run amok. In Chicago it's even worse. Dingy people with their single gear Bikes riding around thinking they own the streets. Meanwhile, normal peoples lives are impacted because these non-contributors to society have their extreme liberal agenda to advertise.

At times, they even ride Nude in Chicago, during the peak traffic hour times. Its ridiculous

It's okay, they wont have money to retire on. Us contributors to society will have the last laugh.

Critical Mass: hipsters trying way, way, way, way, way to hard to be cool and fit in with a group.

The only group of people I have ever seen trying so hard to be cool is the BIKER BOYZZZZ YO DOG DO A WHEELIE!!! so being a douche might have something to do with two wheel transportation.

no idea why theres so much hate for CM here, hardly a hipster parade. Yeah theres a lot of people with their fixed gear bikes there but there are a lot of regular people there just enjoying the city from their bike. It's a unique and enjoyable experience that I would recommend to anyone. Either that or you can keep demonizing a group of 1000+ people you don't know anything about.

I have participated in CM once and have no desire to do so again. I didn't really enjoy the atmosphere of the ride. Hardly anyone in the ride stopped at red lights and were generally a nuisance to other drivers. Also, there were way too many people subjecting other riders to the music blaring from their portable speakers.

Definitely. Everyone that disagrees with your minority opinion is definitely a douchebag.
