    Personally I would just wait.

As a side note, you can walk into a Gamestop today and buy a Playstation 4 controller.

I picked 1 up today to use on my PC. I was able to sign up for the Steam Machine beta because of it (today is the deadline), so convenient timing there Sony.

Anywho I don't have a PS3 so I can't try it out any games that way, but I have a 360 controller I can directly compare it to. I would say it is better in every way (it should be since it's a 10 year+ old design), I wish the triggers were a bit bigger but I like that they're easier to press than the 360s. It feels better in the hands, the face buttons are easier to press (helps that they're digital instead of analog now...though I think we'll miss that feature eventually), the dpad is so superior it's laughable. Most importantly though, the sticks feel better, and they don't have the problem that I experienced with DS3 controllers -- my thumbs hitting each other due to stick proximity. They also feel less loose than the 360 controller (this could be due to controller wear though, this is an old controller. only time will tell on that one). Anyway, when I played at the Galleria they definitely felt more responsive than 360 sticks to me. The controller was one of my biggest concerns coming over from Xbox, but I'm happy to say I'm no longer worried about it. Can't wait to try out Killzone with this thing.

Side note: The light bar is glowing yellow attached to my PC. Not sure if it always does that, but I'm glad it lights up. I have no reason for that other than it's novel, haha.

Hold on a sec... PS4 controllers work on the PC and the PS3? I just Googled it and yeah... somehow I missed that.

I may have to pick one up now, just out of sheer curiosity. After all I'm quite certain I will want a 2nd controller when I get a PS4, and I highly doubt the price of controllers is going to drop at all in the next year.

So a few quick questions for you then:
    1. What kind of connector for the USB cable? Is it the same fairly standard mini-USB that the PS3 uses, or something a little different?
    2. How long is the cable the controller comes with (I'm assuming it comes with one)?
    3. Is PC compatibility plug-and-play, or do you need to mess with driver installation?

I just played Fez with it on my PC, it's a great controller. I'm going to install Mark of the Ninja in a few.

That's another reason I bought it -- I'm going to need a second controller for my wife.

    1. I just took one from the charging block for my HTC one, it's a microusb cable. Not sure if it's the same one as PS3, but it's possible. It's the smooth connector rather than the one that looks like a trapezoid.
    2. It doesn't come with one. You do need 1 in order for it to work with a PS3 (it won't work wirelessly). The PS4 will come with 1. My understanding is it also won't work with certain games, but it should be good for most I imagine.
    3. Yep, plugged it in and it immediately recognized it. I tried it with Portal 2 (on Steam) and had some issues, worked flawlessly with Fez (not on Steam) going to try some others as well.

Edit: Just tried clicking the sticks, also feels better than the 360 equivalent. It also clicks better when you're at an angle, always had issues with that on 360.

Thanks for the responses. I guess DS3s use mini-usb and this is micro-usb, so I'd have to buy a separate cable for it. Still, I think I'll go for it. No real reason not to as I'm planning on buying a PS4 in the next year anyway.

So I did buy a Dual Shock 4 on the way home. Unfortunately I couldn't find a brick & mortar that had a 10ft micro-usb cable... so I can't actually use the thing yet. But I order a cable off of Amazon, so I'll be able to say what the controller's like in actual gameplay when that arrives.

The controller does feel very nice in the hands. The analog sticks seem a bit smaller and also positioned better. The d-pad I'm neutral on until I can try a fighting game with it.

The triggers? I'm not sure. I like them better than the DS3's, but I also think they could stand to be a bit larger and have more of an inward curve to them (this is probably from getting used to giant trigger extensions that I use on all my DS3's).

Anyway, yeah. I'll definitely test it on some PS3 games as soon as the cable arrives.

Dude, AFAIK, you didn't even need that cable that you bought from Amazon. The standard USB cable that is used as a charging cable for your DualShock 3 should work just fine!

I'd cancel from Amazon ASAP so they can refund you since they probably haven't actually shipped the item yet if you bought it today.

Just plug in the USB that came with your ps3 and plug it into your DS4 and enjoy your PS3 games. (not every ps3 game is compatible with the dualshock 4 though)

Might want to check my post just 3 or 4 posts up. ;)

I confirmed before I bought the controller that DualShock 4 uses micro-usb while DualShock3 uses mini-usb. They are definitely not the same thing (mini on left, micro on right):

Speaking of Amazon, when did they up the free shipping threshold to $35? Bummer...

Initially I thought the same thing about the triggers, but honestly they feel kind of like a real trigger as they are. It's an interesting aspect. I will have to play some games with it before I can judge with any certainty.

You were my first PS3 friend I think. Back when only like 6 people had one.

Posted this in the other thread, but I believe some embargoes have expired for games like Assassin's Creed 4 and Battlefield 4, so there are some reviews and comparison screens/videos out there.

Lol, yea I remember. We never played the same game  If you're getting a PS4, lets add each other again.

Don't trust DF's BF4 comparison. They admitted they botched (on purpose?) the PS4's video capture. Go with IGN (that's a first) for the comparison.

Titanfall will be a lifetime exclusive on the XBOX...it wont ever make it to the PS4. Future Titanfall games may or may not be made for the PS4 though.

Yes. Also who is to blame for the government shutdown: Obama or House Republicans? Should we legalize abortion?

There are a ton of threads about this already dude. No need to start another bickering session.
