What if Lin starts -> timeout is called after opening tipoff -> Beverly subbed in. Win-win for everyone.
Lol now that is smart thinking! I would prefer we wait until the first dead ball so we don't waste a time out though
I think Bev will be the starter too. McHale is giving every opportunity for Bev to start and so far he's proved to be a great fit with the starters.
How does this thread which the OP states his opinion with no reasoning or stats deserves it's own thread? Why wasn't this thread merged with any of the other threads covering this topic? Or only threads with the opinion of Lin should be starting gets merged?
why are newcomers given the privelage to start threads ASAP? been here since 2009 and barelystarted a thread..
I, too, believe that Beverley will be the starter. For the reason below, essentially. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-partner="tweetdeck"><p>Beverly could beat out M Conley for first team all-defense at pg.</p>— david b. thorpe (@coachthorpe) <a href="https://twitter.com/coachthorpe/statuses/393804224523280384">October 25, 2013</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
I don't really get how this last game makes you confirm that. If Lin doesn't play great (which he didn't last night), "Lin should be 6th man." If he does play great from the bench, "look how great he played. He should be sixth man." But when Lin had a great game as a starter in Taipei, "he should still be sixth man." On the other hand if Bev has a good game off the bench and outplays Jeremy by a little, "see Bev should be starting." If he sucks off the bench, then "this is why Jeremy has to be sixth man, because our bench needs playmaking." It's just strange to me how no matter what happens, some people always come to the conclusion of Bev starting. Last night, Bev wasn't really effective and didn't do much at all. He played solid on Parker most of the time, but overall it wasn't one of his better games. Yet after the game this thread was immediately made. If I hadn't watched the game, based on the OP I would be thinking Bev had a huge breakout game. Having said all this, I don't really mind who the starter is. I do think Lin can be effective as the sixth man if that's better for the team. But if Harden's playing for 38-40 minutes, I just don't see the point. Nevertheless, I think he deserves to play at least 30 min a game and Bev also deserves to play around that range
I noticed on the game thread how much higher the bar is set for Lin. Only saw the first half. Both played good defense - not much on offense. Bev was almost non-existent on offense (which isn't necesarily bad as it was arguably better than Lin anyways!). I could only go by the box scores for the second half and it would certainly appear that Bev was a non-factor offensively. I can't judge defense purely on boxscores. But it is strange that the conclusion coming from this is that Lin "sucks" (as OP has stated many times) and Bev is a "great". I am not sure if people are only seeing what they want to see. I am almost positive that there does exist a small percentage of posters out here who actually want Lin to fail - just like I am sure that there are some that want to see Bev fail. I do know that if Lin put up 6 points and 2 assists he would be largely crucified no matter how good his defense was. Anyways - it does seem that the "annoyance pendulum" has swung from LOFs to the other side.
Something to point out: If we're ignoring the Taiwan game, Beverley has played more minutes this preseason than Lin.
