You'd be pairing a top 5 defensive center with Anthony Davis, who could potentially be the best power forward in the game in a couple years. What if New Orleans get lucky in the lottery next year and get a top small forward in Wiggins or Jabari Parker? Add Jrue Holiday, Eric Gordon, Tyreke Evans......... It's simple: you don't make major trades in the same conference. Just ask the Thunder's GM Sam Presti. In my opinion, Presti did a tremendous job rebuilding the Houston Rockets.
Anderson would be underwhelming. 42% FG and 38% 3P. Remember when we all complained about Juwan's 45% shooting? Can the Rockets get a 3P shooter who hits at least 42% from there for once.
nawh anderson will get big downlow if he has to, 3 pointers are a luxry he has to spread the floor and what he does best http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iU6W9VLYqk4 ^^^^ anderson 20poins 12 rebounds vs Rockets
It depends on how much you think it improves your team. Maybe the trade moves you from #4 in the West to #1. Maybe it moves the Pelicans from #6 to #2. Sure, you made them better, but it made you better, too.

pretty much agree on this take; although not sure i agree about Anderson's rebounding success. Green's not a real 4, plus he's way overpaid. Casspi could end up being our Ryan Anderson ...and i actually think Asik is a better player anyway. Would not be happy with that trade. We will obviously have to wait on LMA to become a free agent. Durant on Houston would be my wet dream. Can't afford to believe because the disappointment of failure would be too much.
1. I agree that Asik is very likely undervalued by teams around the league, particularly as compared to how much Houston values him. I get the vibe that most teams think of him just as a decent 7 footer like Marcin Gortat instead of a truly elite rim protector. It's unfortunate that much of Asik's value-- elite level defense in everything from iso, post-up, pick and roll, help on guards, contesting shots without foulding-- is not reflected in the box scores. His box score stats don't look much different than that of, say, JJ Hickson even though he is far superior than that scrub. 2. It also seems that other teams think that Houston should take a discount on Asik because they don't need him as much any more with Dwight on board when Morey would be unlikely to take 70 cents on the dollar for him just because he may play reduced minutes. 3. Speaking of "marketable," I agree that this is likely be an important factor here. How many GMs and owners, even if they recognize how good Asik is, are really confident that they can sell their fan based on "Hey guys, we just traded our [Allstar, 20 points per game scorer, highlight dunker, etc.] for Omer Asik! Omer is really really good and friendly even though he doesn't speak much English! Come to the arena and see Omer maintain verticality while contesting shots and staying in position to clean-up the rebound! Omer Asik: He's fantastic!"
I like Anderson but Asik for Anderson is a loser trade for us. Especially with the Pelicans being our next door neighbors and division opponents. If we did that, now we gotta go to N.O. and compete against Asik/Davis. Makes no sense. I don't think Morey will even consider it for a second.
thanks for the info man! I know we should have a really good 2 years here, but I am looking towards summer of 2015!
just my oppinion, but it's one thing to like Ryan Anderson but it's another thing entirely to like him enough to trade Omer for him.
... but no highlights on the defensive end of the floor. No way I trade Asik straight up for Anderson. Having 48 min of elite rim protection & rebounding guarantees a deep playoff push. If Parsons, Casspi and Garcia prove themselves as capable stretch 4s, then I say Morey looks for a more complete PF/C -- should a trade partner for Asik materialize. We must have a backup for Howard.
His career OReb% is 10.3% from 2008-2013. This is similar to or better than the OReb% put up by the following players during these 5 seasons: JJ Hickson: 10.9% Andrew Bynum: 11.1% Chuck Hayes 10.2% Blake Griffin 9.9% Nick Collison 10.6% Marcin Gortat 9.6% Al Horford 8.5% David Lee 9.0% Tim Duncan 9.1% http://bkref.com/tiny/YwU21
The thing I love asik, But I feel that he is kinds overrated to other teams, they do watch his elite defense but they also notice things he really lacks. Teams may want someone who the can trust on offense also. You have to be fair when discussing players i know we really like him but can’t turn your head on things he doesn’t do bad and especially expect scouts and other teams GMs to do the same. pros 1. rim protector 2. solid defense 3. rebounds cons 1. catching a pass (is the worse out of any center in the league right now) 2. finishing at the rim (rather layup than dunk) 3. free-throws
Why would the Houston front office be spreading "cover rumors" with some poster on Clutchfans? How is this gonna change the thinking of another front office or create any advantage at all?
Wasn't RA quoted as saying he did not like Howard? I agree - - it smells like any deal with any of the apparent player possibilities would require a 3rd team to facilitate to get something done. BTW Re: Green. I actually believe he would be an inspired addition. I love Rondo, but he is just flat-out wrong for this team.
Man I really really really want Jeff Green as our PF. He can spread the floor, but his dynamic enough of a player to be able to get to the rim if the long distance shot isn't falling. There aren't a ton of PFs that are going to abuse him on the defensive end anyway.
From what I have read Durant's contract does not have an opt-out clause. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=5360721 This means he will be available 3 years from now barring a trade. Althought it is interesting, I do not thing we should worry about Durant for now, a lot can happen in three years.
Nooooooooooooooooooooooo. Not Anderson! Too limited on offense. Chucker. No defense. Stay away please. I'd be OK with Millsap at the deadline if nobody better becomes available and Howard and Asik don't work well together. Jeff Green, nah.
