Unless Asik develops a mid range game, he will not be happy because no offense play will run for him. All he can do is defend and rebound (and rebound is gonna go to Howard mostly). His stat will drop A LOT.

His play is just too similar to Howard and Howard does almost everything better than him (except maybe free throws, but not too much different). This is similar to Lin and Harden case, but at least Lin and Howard play different positions.

I don't think twin tower will last long. It can be used for certain games against certain match ups, but not something sustainable for continuous starts. It looks like Casspi will get the start or the main backup for PF.

Asik is still best serving as the main backup for Howard.

Asik needs to be more aggressive on rebounds on both sides of the court - many times he is flat footed - acting like a spectator more than an owner of the rebound. He and Howard need to battle for them and the team will benefit from it. We need more than being a defensive specialist from him. And, if he wants a better contract then he needs to be more aggressive also.

No offense ran through him last season. His points come from offensive rebounds and pick and rolls, something that occurred in the game against the Spurs but Asik failed to finish. The team rarely ever ran offensive plays for Asik.

And honestly, I hope Asik is not as entitled as some people are making him out to be. He gets paid way above market value because Morey thought he was worth it, whiles the rest of the league didn't. He wants a starting job, and the team adjusted to have him play with Howard. Now he is going to be upset because teams don't run offensive plays for him, even though his offense is atrocious?

Apparently some folks must not have seen Omer interviews last year. This is his demeanor.

Having the flexibility to go BIG, small, and always having an elite rim protector in the game is not redundant, it is the road to a title.

Omer is going to get his minutes. This is obvious. Winning will soothe any other hurt feelings.

I forsee a lot of blowouts that will give plenty of playing time or developmentmal minutes for everyone on the roster.

rockets should run some offensive plays for asik...feed him down in the post too then go back to feeding howard...this will get opponents in foul trouble.

Asik has less of a post game than Howard.

Sorry but this is a wrong headed thread. Asik is fully on board period. He got over his grumpies.

I would count running pnr with Asik as run plays through him. But if you have both Asik and Howard on the floor, who would you prefer to run pnr first? Howard. That leaves Asik very little chance to get involved in the offense. Only thing he would be doing is to set screens for off ball players and hope to get a good position for offensive rebounds.

Yes, he is a professional but he is human too. Mood will affect his game.

I don't think he is worried about his minutes, problem is he doesn't get the ball (never). He is trying hard in every play but every ball goes to Howard. Yes, that's a better way to play but you should think like him, what would you do?

I think he should work on his midrange game if he wants to score.

I saw Howard trying to find and pass to Asik.
They are still building chemistry both offense and defense sides.I don't care how long it takes to build, and I believe they will find the best way to dominate both ends.

Where is this "Asik is unhappy" rumor coming from? Yeah he might be a little miffed at the idea of his numbers going down, but to say he's unhappy to the point where it would ruin team chemistry is a bit of a stretch. We're adjusting the lineups to accommodate him as a starter, what's there to be unhappy about?

Does anyone think he's gonna quit on the team? Hell no. This guy is a worker and a grinder. He goes out and does his job night in and night out. He's the last person you should worry about.

there will be game he get 30 min and there will be game he only get 20
last year there are few games he sat out the entire 4th quarter
    he'll get over it
even Lin sat on the bench at closing min
    it's all about matchup
best lineup in the game will play the most in
as long we win at the all everyone will be happy

I don't get why Asik would be unhappy.

For one he has the opportunity to still start and play as many minutes as he did last year.

Second we never ran any offense through him last year so he basically has the same exact role. (Defense and rebounding).

Exactly. For a guy who never says anything bad (or really anything at all) and just goes out and does his job like a professional he sure gets a lot of flack. Way too many drama addicts looking for a fix.

I cant tell if he looks unhappy or not, but I can say that, on offense, he will be in the same boat as Lin last year, and perhaps this year, out of place...

He should also work on catching the ball and then holding it tight when he takes it up. He loses a ton of balls. And this is coming from an Asik fan who does not want him traded.
