While I agree with all that you said, there is not much to take away from this game against the Spurs. The Spurs were playing like this was a preseason game. The Rockets, on the other hand, were trying to win the game with an eight-man rotation before they pulled away in the 3rd quarter.

Calm down Rocket fans, don't pull a Dallas Mavericks fans pre-2011 annual "We beat the Spurs" trophy out.

Spurs two best players this preseason didn't play tonight, and Duncan couldn't hit the gulf of mexico with his outside shot in which it would of spread and opened up the paint more, and Parker looks like he doesn't give a crap this whole preseason. In a regular season or post season game they would of put Splitter or Diaw out there to try and front and frustrate the crap out of Howard, like they did with him and Randolph last year in the playoffs, or just throw Bonner or Diaw out there to make one of the big guys come out of the paint.

Anyways got to give props to the Rockets. Harden is a beast, and Howard played well on both ends and didn't cry for a foul everytime like in the playoffs when he was with LA last year. I like that Parson kid yall have he would perfect on the Spurs as a small ball four something we really need. Good pickup in that trade to get Garcia he can shoot, and that Beverly guy is a pest that I would love on my team but hate when we play against him.

I predict yall to be the 5th seed and beat the Warriors in six games, and lose to the Spurs in the second round in five games. Best of luck to the Rockets this season.

Agreed with all of this and I think Smith might actually get cut, and hopefully Camby just decides to go straight into coaching.

Lin was more active on defense this time and appeared to actually be getting better at having a backup option when he drives in, I saw several times when he drove in and then dished out in traffic (instead of dropping off to a big man) instead of getting trapped in the paint.

I'm really really looking forward to the twin towers with Howard and Asik, just the second game together and they're already looking MUCH better. True there's room to grow still (like Howard's post game) but I'm seeing improvement which makes things hopeful. I'm betting Asik is still shaking off rust from both euroleague, injury, and trying to figure things out with Howard, and Howard is just learning too much right now (Rockets offense, teammate's playing style, a post game, etc) so I give them at least a month or so to settle in.

Asik and Howard played very good today. Made the spurs shoot from the outside. Asik runs hard, he can cover Howard's man sometimes just by hustling down court, gives time for Dwight to get back.

Not just can't shoot... can't score, period. And his passing seems pretty mediocre to me. He just plain sucks as an overall offensive player.

His rebounding is all right, but Casspi's is a lot better, so I'm not seeing an advantage for him there.

Mainly he just seems like an occasional defensive sub to me. I don't see him as a regular part of the rotation. Depending on how McHale wants to distribute the minutes I could still see DMo or Jones getting regular playing time. I don't see that happening with Brewer.

Which is why he said we'd beat them.

Sure you could always say that but by playing Duncan and Parker, they at least did not want to be beaten in a blowout at home with their fans in the building.

Good luck to you guys too! I don't think I have ever seen this much talent in one division in NBA. Houston, San Antonio, Memphis, Dallas, New Orleans. We can probably have a Southwest division vs NBA All stars game.

Seems TT is working wonderfully. It'll just continue to improve. I've got high hopes. They will certainly wreak havoc on the defensive end. Offensively, I think they can cope with each other. Rather than making a big deal out of the PF position, it will be better to concentrate first with making the twin towers effective. If it turns out to be a good tandem, it will be very hard for others to match it. 20 minutes of TT will be enough I think.

    Yo, Spurs homer!
Respect for keeping old guys like Duncan and Ginobili alive for so many years.
Kudos for bringing along Kawhi Leonard and Green on board.

The future belongs to the Rockets. Peace out.

LOL. Need to stop with that tiresome narrative. Yes, Duncan and Manu are on the wrong side of 30 but all their other guys are just as young as ours. And Tony's is just in his prime. No doubt this game gave us a lot of hope, but the Spurs are still the reigning WC champs. Also, one of my favorite non-Rockets teams to watch.

Lin played fine, just missed more layups. Easily should have been 5-9 for 15 pts. He was one of the best finishers at the rim among pg's last season, those'll start dropping. Team needs his playmaking abilities, if you took him away that category would be lacking on this team. I definitely think he needs to start, but regardless if he plays a lot of minutes he'll help the team quite a bit.

I shred mine. Perhaps you should too. While Linsanity is no fluke, it is not sustainable because it requires Lin to summon all his strength. After each Linsanity spurt, Lin becomes living dead. Use the recent stretch as an example. After Linsanity in Taiwan, it's DNP ill, 2-9 shooting+burnt by Jose Calderon, 3-9 shooting missing shots after shots at close range, and a crappy game against the Grizzlies on the horizon.
