I can understand people's natural aversion to John; but between Kennedy, Nicholson and the Beatles I would have expected it to make more of a dent in the seventies and early '80s.

Yeah, the Madison (and Maddox) thing for girls seems to have come out of nowhere.

I wonder if it has anything to do with The Bridges of Madison County. It was quite the phenomena in the 90s.

    Jose---LOLs

But what's up with than Jennifer pandemic that suddenly in one year swept through the entire US for the entire 70s.

    What Jennifer started that.

And LOLs that Jessica and Ashley owned the US in the '80s, when Jessica and Ashley were born, with a little Brittney thrown in there. That's so funny.

I expect Jeremy and Chandler to sweep the nation in a few years. Will probably stay there for close to a decade.

A couple of other things caught my eye. Unless I missed it somewhere else, the state of Illinois was the slowest to change to more unique names. Their top name was Michael from the beginning until 2000. Michael Jordan probably had something to do with that in the 90s, but from the early-1960s until the 90s is still a really long time.

I was also surprised at some of the names from the more recent years. I can't wrap my head around the fact that Jayden was most popular name in both Florida and Louisiana for several years and names like Owen, Logan, and Elijah popped up at different points.

I was wondering why isabella was very popular, so I googled it, and I found it that twilight was probably the reason, damn!

    Nice find percicles!

The usual suspects were well represented, and of course were usually influenced by a celebrity/movie, or some religious belief!
What i'm surprised at is that this didn't become more popular during 93'- 2000'......

Personally, I like having a name not so common that a lot of other people have it, but not so uncommon that people have never heard of it. I doubt I'd ever name my kids something that's really common.

Lol, that's me always offending someone.

My point was how in the world would a rather unique name like that be the #1name in two states?

    I don't think it's a bad name just shocked at it's popularity.
