Everyone knows and loves The Basketball Jones, but aside from them, are there any other quality Podcasts out there?
Hoopspeak Live is one of the better ones. Instead of ranting about Twitter (CBS Eye-on-Basketball) or creating narratives (Jalen Rose), Hoopspeak Live talks about teams and games in a more substantive manner, delving into details about fit and plays. It's not amazing, but it's better than listening to Matt Moore complain about Twitter fans and speculate about random trades.
I listen to TBJ every day. I haven't found any that are even close to comparison. I'll have to give Hoopspeak a listen.
Also, check out Rocketscast. Pretty good if you aren't able to watch when it streams live on the website.
NBA Today used to be awesome with Ryen Russillo. Bruce Bowen and Israel Guitierrez (no idea how to spell his last name) suck though. It's all narrative.
Man, preach! I really miss NBA Today. Whoever decided to give Bowen a podcast needs to be fired. I tried listening to it one time and Bowen's voice and presentation made me angry. Seriously, listen to it one time -- it is inexplicable someone thought giving Bowen that show was a good idea. TBJ is great, and much appreciation to the Hoopspeak suggestion, I'll give that a shot as well.
I was a big fan of The Disciples of Clyde back when they were serving up a podcast every week or so, but now there are literally months between recordings.
Any other good podcasts you guys are following for this season? Of course, I've switched over from TBJ to The Starters, and I also have subscribed to Clutchfans and Rockets.com podcasts.
unfortunately hoopspeak live seem to have died, EOB pod is getting better really, believe the hype is pretty good too
Piling on - I loved the old NBA Today with Russillo. I've tried the Bowen show a few times, and it too was surprisingly annoying.
You can't get better than The Starters, but EOB is pretty good too. Not gonna lie, Matt Moore can get annoying but Zach Harper makes up for it with his relaxed persona.
I've been listening to some of these. Maybe its an acquired taste, but I find the banter to be annoyingly unfunny and far too frequent. Zach Harper is chuckling through every sentence with all the weird non-basketball references. I find Matt Moore to be more tolerable of the two.
I've been giving eye on basketball a shot as well during the offseason. They're knowledgeable and they watch a ton of basketball. But the presentation and banter is not my style either. I'm gonna give it a shot in the regular season but I'm still looking for something better. I'm really hoping there is a Zach Lowe pod.
