    bingo. agree 100%.

and this is coming from someone that started a thread titled "coming around on mchale", and my stance hasn't changed. he's the perfect coach for a young team growing, maturing, and understanding what it means to be a professional basketball player. he enjoys the game, and never takes it for granted, and that's what you need to instill in young players. a prima donna will not last with mchale.

but on the x and o stuff, and player rotations... my mom always say if i have nothing good to say don't say anything at all.

I don't think much of Spoelstra either, but he has been given the talent. I have to give him the credit for knowing not to get in the way and ruffle feathers. That Wade taking a back seat to Lebron and not making Bosh seem like a third fiddle situation could have been disastrous, but I am sure he had his part in handling it with Championship success.

However, it goes with out saying that his recipe for success has been more talent heavy then others. The rest of his coaching skills didn't demand to be as strong to still win championships. Him managing the ego's with just enough X's and O's is all that team needed to win.

Actually, I think that it is his deficiencies in the other parts of his coaching skills that I don't think Miami will win the 6-7-8 Championships Lebron was talking about.

I hate to say it, because I am not a Phil Jackson fan, but if he were their coach, 6-7-8 Championships would have been a real conversation!

Probably so. Like Larry Brown. But, really, how long do you need a coach for? I'm totally fine with McHale, but if Carlisle were available, I'd have to give it some serious thought- bring him in for 3-4 years- he's got the ring and he commands respect.

Exactly. It looks like the OP is trying to trash McHale, but it actually appears that McHale is viewed as probably a top ten coach. He received votes in two categories, when most coaches received no votes in any categories.

That poll just shows that you suck as a coach until you win a championship. That's when they'll say "Well, I ALWAYS though X coach was highly underrated for many years".

Morey controls his staff except for one coach. McHale was brought in to be a "leader of men, a delegater" an inspiration to his players and a great face of the franchise. Besides, the players generally are in awe of him. I personally have no complaints.

this thread makes no sense. considering there's 30 coaches and mchale received votes in multiple catagories, it sounds like mchale IS among the better coaches of the league.

According to the survey, 7 coaches got higher overall rankings than McHale's one 3rd place. The last time I checked, being #8 out of 30 is the very definition of "one of the better coaches."

He gets vote on "head coach makes the best in-game adjustments"?
I would go as far to give him nods on defense than giving him votes on "best in-game adjustments"...

#8, ey? Yeah, I wouldn't rank McHale that highly. Definitely outside the top 10.

The Old Man was right on the money. Dude Morey controlled this team pretty much all last season. When Morey traded away both McHale's starting PF and his back up, Coach was livid/pissed. That trade forced McHale to play who Morey wanted him to play, DMo. Coach Rick left because he wasn't on board with Morey's new method. Dude wouldn't play the players that Morey wanted him to play.

Well, that's his rank based on poll result. So I guess NBA GMs think more highly of him than you or the OP.

Might not be due to coaching - but from players themselves. If you look at Spoelstra - lol he got no votes or anything.
