I believe he's talking best case scenario where all the providers pick up CSN. Those of us who want more than just the games can enjoy that as well. Hopefully it'll be settled one way or another soon enough.

All I can tell you is both the Rockets and Comcast are saying that if the Astros walk, it's finished. That the Rockets would walk the deal too.

Never is a really long time.

Neither you or I have information on exactly what was presented to the Rockets and Astros with regard to offers by carriers. Neither you or I have information on what conversations both the Rockets and Astros have had or are having with other providers about what happens if this bankruptcy is dismissed.

From what the Astros are saying, the offers weren't even close to what Comcast told them all they'd be getting. They're saying those offers were coming in at about 50 cents on the dollar. If that's right, then there's no way the Astros can accept that over a 20 year deal. And everyone in the room knows that. The Rockets and Comcast both understand, probably better than you or I do, about how important local media dollars are to a Major League Baseball franchise.

I doubt either team would have to beg FSSW to air their games...the alternative for FSSW is to air Division 2 womens volleyball. I think they would go with the Rockets

Of course, the more I think about it - i am not sure FSSW should air another the Astros 100 loss season

And we both know Jim Crane has been proven to be a liar in this process at least once.

Yeah, I'm sure he was offered a killer deal and turned it down. Cuz that would totally make sense.

I doubt he's only been offered 50 cents on the dollar though. The Rockets are allegedly fine with the offers that have been made. If they were as pitiful as the Astros want us to believe would the Rockets really be on board?

Absolutely. Because their broadcasting deal alone is killer relative to the rest of the NBA. In addition, they pool local media dollars in the NBA far more extensively than they do in MLB.

Local media dollars are just about the most significant revenue stream that MLB teams have. That's not the case in the NBA.

By the way...they've been redacted from the public records, because i'm sure they were offered up under confidentiality clauses, but the offers are there for the judge to see in the pleadings.

Yeah, I'm sure of it, Granville. I'm sure they offered up something amazing, and he turned it down, because he doesn't want money.

I get that you don't like Crane, and I have my concerns about him, too. But let's not throw logic entirely out the window.

I'm willing to guarantee they are not 50 cents on the dollar.

If they are 50 cents on the dollar, then Comcast promised a dollar number that the Astros/Rox had to be absolutely dumb to think was legit, something like 2, or 2.5 times what FSN was willing to pay.

Honestly, justtxyank, I don't think you or I have the first clue what was actually offered. We're both now offering up guesses. I wasn't in the room. I won't guarantee you anything about what was offered, because I simply do not know.

There's one party that was in the room that put what was offered into a pleading before a Bankruptcy Court though. Unfortunately, it's redacted. But in those same pleadings, they talk about the offer being $.50 on the dollar. Soooo...that's the best information I have. As an attorney, I don't typically draw up pleadings with lies in place of facts that easily verified or debunked otherwise. Because of that, I'm gonna probably give more weight to those pleadings than I will to what you or I might guess at.

Pay attention.....I didn't say whether or not he turned down an offer amazing or not, just when Jeff Balke made us all aware of Crane turning down offers, the ****bag lied about it.

And so did the Rockets and Comcast. Tad Brown was the very first person to come out and say that didn't happen.

These are partners to a business. Not the glee club. You present a unified front..and you're negotiating through the media as much as you're negotiating at the table in an industry like this.

So how did the unified front work again when Crane took to the media to say he wasn't going to blink?

Pay attention. You're moving all over the place now. We weren't talking about the "not going to blink" thing...which was months from the time of the event we were actually talking about...the time Tad and the rest of them all went public to deny that story. At that time they were trying to present a unified front...because that's what you do when you're negotiating.

Granville, with all due respect some of us are coming here for updates from Max and Ref. You're making the thread more difficult to read and understand quite honestly.
