Yes I have almost enterprise equipment capable of handling the speed I get. I throttle everyone in my household who's name isn't scionxa down to about 50/6 using custom settings on a VLAN I made for them.

Comcast 50/20, basic cable with crummy SD box, HBO. $50. Goes up to $80 in January which is when I'm dropping it. No espn, no csn.

Cable providers are getting killed (net loss in customers every quarter) due to cord cutters and competition. Play hardball and they will give you a deal.

lol at everyone saying comcast is more expensive

I pay 99 for four-way or what ever its called
all premium channels, phone, internet (which blows the hell outta uVerse (which we had prior) internet speed) and the alarm system. first six months of alarm is free then we start paying 50 a month

but the internet alone is worth it

on top of that watching the Rockets? Which I hated when when I was with uVerse the last two years. on top of that I just got my 250 dollar gift card yesterday which I guess I could use to pay my first 2 and half months with?

I ABSOLUTELY HATE COMCAST FOR WHAT THEY ARE DOING ROCKET WISE BUT SAYING UVERSE IS EVEN CLOSE IN INTERNET SPEED IS STUPID RIDCULOUS

Hah. I haven't seen anyone mention it either.

But without the rage, he is definitely right. Uverse internet blows in regards to speed. I can't comment on reliability since I've never had it but I have a crazy uptime going on right now with Comcast.

Then again, most people would be okay with what AT&T has to offer in regard.

I have DirecTV for TV. I don't like Comcast cable. Plus the genie is rather bad ass.

I've really never had a problem with reliability and have had pretty much zero downtime with Uverse internet, but I do agree their speeds BLOW compared to Comcast. Their wireless is pretty horrible too. I bought an extender for upstairs and still cannot get good speeds.

I have DirecTV and the Premium package which is thier top tier. Comes with all of the premium channels and most every other channel to be expected. Except for a few randoms that are ala cart add-ons. Currently cost $110 a month with one Genie DVR and three Genie Client boxes, halfway through a two year contract.

Internet from Comcast. The Performance Tier that lists at 20/Mbps, but I always average 25-30. Paying about $45 a month for that. No contract.

Those with Comcast 50... are you getting that speed consistently?

    BUMP

    Need advice brahs

Moving to a new apartment. I just need basic internet ( to browse and stream European football games) and cable (mainly to watch the Rockets). Thinking of going with comcast.

    1. Is this the best option?
    2. How much should I pay max?

Comcast is your only option if you want to watch the Rockets ;)

If you are the only person streaming, you should be fine with the Performance Starter tier (6Mbps), but I recommend the Performance tier (25Mbps) as that is were you will find most package deals and best value.

As for cable, CSN needs at least the Digital Preferred tier (160+ channels), which will run $40/mo by itself.

Honestly, the best option is to call up Comcast directly and specifically tell them you want to watch the Rockets + give them s*** about the contract situation. They should be receptive and offer a nice package. I would aim for around $60 for performance internet and premier TV, but no guarantees.
    ------------------------------------------

Or you could go for the best deal and get the Internet Plus promo (25Mbps, HBO/HBO GO, OTA channels - $40/mo for 1yr no contract) OR the Blast Plus promo (50Mbps, Economy TV - $50/mo for 1yr no contract)
    +
alternative methods to watch the rockets
